Happy Monday! Adding today a little backbending tutorial with some big poses. My most favorite way of practicing these poses is in the third picture of each slide. Flipped grip with one arm and other arm helping to lift and lengthen out of low back. Eventually muscles get stronger and help you do that without arm support but for my that decompression feels really yummy.

I put together 9 of my fav pigeon variations for you. Hope you like it!

I also gave each variation a name so I’ll list that here for you so it’s easier for you to refer to each one:

Puppy Pose is a great shoulder opening pose, but it's difficult to access to the shoulder when your chest is not on the mat 😕 And this is so hard if you have tight shoulder. But you can still practice this pose using a block

🔹Simply place a block (or two) under the chest. You can melt your heart down when there's something to press! Arch your whole spine, and make your chest the heaviest point ⬇

🔹Aligh your knees under your hips, or BEHIND. Walk your knees back as much as you need to descend your chest on a block.

🔹 Straighten your arms! Bent elbows cause terrible pain in deltoid (top of shoulder)😖 .

🔹 Ideally your arms are parallel, but you can widen your hands if you have tight shoulder ☝

🔸Most importantly, relax and hold about 5-10 long breath 😌 Close your eyes, and soften your eyebrows. You'll get more ease in the pose 👌

This is one of my favourite warm up for backbend. You literally create so much space in shoulder and heart areas ♥ Enjoy your practice!

HIPS & TWIST !!!!
This 3 part Hips sequence is perfect for tight hips and stiff back! I added in a twist in Sequences A and C on top of the hips stretches, and it just made my practice feel more complete. My body just felt so amazing and relaxed after finishing this sequence. Definitely my go-to stretches when my hips feel super tight!

Hold the hip stretches for 1-2mins
Twist about 5-10 breaths
Repeat on the other side
