Yoga is filled with a variety of styles to choose from. Whether you crave strengthening styles such as Ashtanga-vinyasa or getting flexible with some Yin or finding some relaxation with Restorative yoga. Whatever yoga you choose I encourage you to explore and experience all the different styles yoga has to offer and find the style that makes your heart sing. This doesn’t just extend to yoga but all movement practices- pilates, swimming, crossfit etc. There is so much out there on offer and it seems silly not to take advantage of that variety. As with most activities, the more consistent your practice the better it will become and you’ll start to reap those amazing yoga benefits! Be kind to yourself, leave self judgement and perfectionism behind and understand that Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will your practice so take it slow and savour every moment especially those wobbly moments. Those moments are what shows us growth in physical strength and our will to get back up and try again.

For many of us this final resting pose is the most challenging of poses. During the practice we’re constantly flowing through asana and our minds are engaged. Savasana leaves us with stillness, our own thoughts and feelings without distractions. Don't skip savasana! Embrace it. It is a valuable and beautiful experience. This pose allows our nervous system to fully relax and allows the body to soak up all the nutrients you cultivated during your practice. Always remember when your mind begins to wander, simply come back to the breath and enjoy this resting meditation.

Most yoga practices begin with a calming and centering before moving into the physical practice, the poses or asanas. This would be an ideal time to set an intention for your practice whether it may be to focus on alignment, non judgement towards yourself and others or simply focusing on your breath. The essence of yoga is an inward journey. Feel the poses in your body instead of looking for outside sources of comparison. Allow your breath to be your guide and listen to your body. Don't be shy, introduce yourself to the teacher and explain that you are new to yoga or the studio! There is no shame in being new to something, it shows strength for trying something new! Most studios and classes follow specific yogic manners which are found on their website. Practicing silence, self awareness, respect for the teachers, your fellow students and the studio will help ensure your yoga experience is both beneficial and tension free. These include: removing your shoes, turn off your cell phone to prevent distractions, arrive 10-15 mins early so you can settle in and adjust to your surroundings, put props and mats away after class, respect the space, practice cleanliness, honor your limits and leave ego and competition at the door.

Find a class that best suits your level. It's a great idea to find a beginners class or workshop where you learn foundational poses, your bodies natural alignment and breathing fundamentals. There are so many yoga studios with great teachers so I encourage you to explore and experience different yoga styles and different teaching methods. Ultimately finding what works for you. It’s ok to feel nervous when trying something new. This isn't about shaming but about cultivating a mindful and honest practice from the get go. Take a friend and remember, we were all beginners once so rock it!

This is a conditioning practice that is infused with yoga, pilates, TRX, HIIT and strength training which utilizing the aerial yoga hammock as a prop. Aerial yoga challenges our body and mind in a unique way by incorporating tumbles, inversions and relaxing cocoon postures, coupled with conscious breathing all suspended from the ceiling. Welcome!

At the beginning of my journey, I had a keen interest in wellness and the healing powers derived from such activities. This interest presented itself as an urge to heal myself through knowledge. I started studying numerous topics on anatomy, nutrition and various movement styles. Through consistent practice, I noticed how those topics influenced my body, mind and spirit in a positive way.

After a long time of trial and error in finding which movement was right for my body, I stumbled upon yoga. I couldn't have been more grateful for that day. The practise of yoga is an act of self-love and has shown me that the true powers of healing come from the internal space that we create for ourselves. This newly created space opened the doorway to exploring, experiencing and uniting a fusion of movement styles.

The decision to become a full-time freelance teacher was the most liberating and challenging choice I’d ever made. This paved the way for me to reconnect to my authentic self and realigned my true passion and Katie Jeanne Wellness was conceived.

A fresh beginning for me to utilize my skills to help others find release and awaken to comfortably and effectively move their bodies through life both on and off the mat.

Katie Jeanne Wellness believes in the concept of Uniqueness. I hope to bring about growth and changes in the spirit of your uniqueness. Doing this by combining creative sequences, a spirit of playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help deepen your practice.

I seek to help others to thrive in life by nurturing the body, mind and soul with movement, meditation and pranayama in hopes that you step off the mat feeling reconnected, nourished and balanced.
