Fautasi racing has been a huge part of my life for the past 25 years and i couldn’t have done it and excelled in the sport without the unconditional love and support of my Frenchie, sons and family. Fautasi is also my vehicle for promoting discipline, love and kindness not violence, good health and above all a courageous and relentless self belief in seizing greatness and excellence because You Can.

For a change this year I've enjoyed watching from the sidelines. Today I sat on the rocks in front of the Yacht Club at Mulinu'u, where my family usually watch from when I'm racing.

Quite a nostalgic day for me to see the great performance of veteran skipper Fa'agalu Dominic Fonoti, Skipper of Little Rina from the village of Toamua who claimed the championship for the Messina Fautasi Race this year. Newcomer skipper Leiataua Jerry Brunt of Telefoni o Vainu'u from Faleu Manono ( his 4th race) and steerer Talo gave Little Rina a good fight on the ocean. They took 2nd place. Malo le tau. Malo le finau.

Following in 3rd place was Tava'esina from Salua village of Manono Island...skippered and steered by Auapaau and Mulipola. It was the Tava'esina's return to fautasi racing after 10 plus years of not competing. Close behind Tava'esina was Apia II and I was so happy for Apia to come in on a good placing, after they purchased the Don Bosco fautasi which was originally the La o Samoa from Lepea.
Apia villages' new fautasi named APIA crawled to the finish line almost an hour after the first 5 fautasi had crossed the finish line at 6th place.
At 5th place was Avi'ivi'i the second fautasi from the village of Toamua.

Early in the morning at 6.30am my 4 sons woke me up with their siva practice for their cousin's wedding the next day. The baby (in the front) is the dance teacher while his 3 older brothers follow lol. The eldest, with pink hair, is the most uncoordinated of the lot!
I came across this wonderful memory of two years ago and we've watched it over and over. Frenchie and I do miss them a lot. It also brought home to us our gift to them of good health. I was the strictest between us as a couple. Sometimes Frenchie got mad at me for being so strict on them in looking after their bodies, keeping fit and eating healthy foods.
But I think we did right by them!

My job now is to focus on Frenchie and his health. And of course our sons blame me for not being strict on their Papa like I was with them. Oh dear! 🤣💛🧡

Frenchie et moi...have been missing in action lol.
Actually we took off to the waterfront in Apia to cheer on all the fautasis in training for the Measina Fautasi Race on the 3rd September. Here we have Leiataua Jerry Brunt and his team Telefoni ole Vainu'u. Always a feast to mine eyes...Fautasi !! 🩷💛🥰
