For years, too many women with PCOS have been dismissed, misunderstood, or told to simply “lose weight” without anyone truly explaining what’s happening in their bodies.
So I was grateful to be asked to contribute to this conversation in the Mirror this weekend about the proposed shift from PCOS to PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome).
Because this condition has never just been about ovaries.
It affects metabolism, hormones, mood, energy, fertility, inflammation, insulin resistance, and so much more.
A name change alone won’t fix the gaps in care, diagnosis, or support, but hopefully it’s a step towards wider understanding, better education, and women being taken more seriously when they say something doesn’t feel right.
Thank you to the Mirror for helping bring more awareness to this conversation. And thank you to every woman who continues to share her story so openly.
