Before waxing, avoid using products with retinol, exfoliating acids, or alcohol-based toners, as these can increase skin sensitivity and the risk of irritation. Also, make sure that you use SPF regularly afterward.

-Caffeine and alcohol are both stimulants that can cause your skin to be extra sensitive.

-During pregnancy, a wax can feel more painful due to increased blood flow to the skin caused by hormonal changes.

-Shaving cuts the hair at the skin’s surface, leaving a blunt edge that is more difficult for the wax to grip, resulting in more pulling and discomfort when the wax is removed.

-Some medications can make the skin more delicate and prone to irritation during waxing.

If a wax is more painful than usual please don’t hesitate to let me know during the service so we can pinpoint what’s going on or adjust your appointment.
