Food cravings can be caused by a variety of factors, both physiological and psychological.

Nutritional Deficiencies: Sometimes, our bodies crave specific foods because they are lacking certain nutrients. For example, if you're deficient in iron, you might crave red meat or spinach.

Emotional State: Emotions play a significant role in food cravings. Stress, boredom, sadness, or even happiness can trigger cravings for comfort foods.
People often turn to their favorite snacks to cope with their emotions.

Ghrelin and Leptin: Hormones like ghrelin (which stimulates appetite) and leptin (which signals fullness) can influence cravings.
When these hormones are imbalanced, it can lead to increased hunger and cravings.

To combat these cravings and find a way to fight it back is to follow some simple steps such as;

Stay Hydrated: Drinking enough water can help maintain proper hormone balance and reduce unnecessary cravings. Sometimes, what seems like a food craving may actually be your body signalling the need for hydration.

Regular Meals: Eating regular, balanced meals can help stabilise ghrelin and leptin levels.
Avoid skipping meals to prevent hormone imbalances that may lead to cravings.

Stress Management: Incorporating stress-reduction techniques such as mindfulness, meditation, exercise, and adequate sleep can help keep stress-induced cravings in check.
These practices can help regulate ghrelin and leptin and improve overall well-being.

As a peri-menopausal woman, I've come to realize the true value of starting my day with a nutritious breakfast. From the decadent days of almond croissants to the revitalizing mornings with avocado toast and salad, this journey has been transformative. 🌅

Now, more than ever, I understand the importance of nourishing my body with wholesome choices to support my well-being during this phase of life. It's incredible how these small changes have had a profound impact on my overall health and energy levels. 💪

As we approach menopause, the risk of bone density loss increases.
