Aside from alcohol consumption, various factors may cause liver cirrhosis. The most common causes include:
1. Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
-a condition in which the liver becomes inflamed from a build-up of excess fat
2. Hepatitis Infection
-this is inflammation of the liver caused by heavy alcohol use, toxins, some medications, and certain medical conditions
3. Autoimmune Hepatitis
-body's immune system attacks the liver and causes inflammation and liver damage
4. Primary Biliary Cholangitis
-a chronic disease n which the bile ducts in your liver are slowly destroyed
5. Biliary Atresia
-a condition in infants where in bile flow from the liver to the gallbladder is blocked. This causes the bile to be trapped inside the liver, quickly causing damage and scarring (cirrhosis)
