Happy Friday!

A quick little tip for you. If your toddler has learned to unzip their sleep sack, put it on BACKWARDS! This will draw the distraction away from the zipper as it is not easily accessible.

👶🏻 My 1.5 year old just recently took off his sleep sack during his nap, took off his diaper, and the p**p that was in the diaper went everywhere! Talk about a mom FAIL! 💥

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hump Day!

It’s almost FRIDAY, but being a parent is nonstop. Younger babies 👶🏻 have such short wake windows and older babies, who are taking two naps but can’t quite make it to bedtime without getting overtired, could benefit from a short snooze 😴.

* ⏰ 20-45 min is just enough for a cat nap
* Baby can sleep in crib, carrier, stroller, etc. How ever you get baby to fall asleep that’s 👍🏼
* Use the same nap time routine you use for your other naps. Remember... babies LOVE consistency!
* When baby no longer falls asleep for this nap, it may be time to drop it 😃

Happy Wednesday! It’s been a while since I posted as I’ve been helping in the LA community doing COVID-19 testing. The holidays were super busy, but I’m back and ready to start of 2021 right! 🌟

I’ve helped some mamas over the holidays and breastfeeding/sleep was a common concern. Breastfed babies CAN sleep through the night. There may be some bumps in the road working through different developmental stages and it may take some work, but it’s totally doable!

4 WAYS TO GET YOUR BABY TO STTN!

1️⃣ Full Feeds - A baby who snacks, let’s say to sleep, may not take a full feeding once they wake which turns into a cycle of snacking throughout the day.

2️⃣ Consistency! Whether it be every two hours or every three hours stick to a routine.

3️⃣ Dream bottle feed. Try using a bottle of expressed breast milk from a pump session if you have. Night time pumped milk will have sleepy hormones and daytime pumped milk will tend to be more filling. Breastfeeding at this time will work as well for moms that do not want to introduce bottle.

4️⃣ Eat -> Play -> Sleep. This is HUGE and eliminates the confusion of “why is my baby crying?” After a nice full feed upon arousal, some play time to follow, and watching baby sleep cues to determine sleep time, you are on your path to a well rested baby. (Exception is at bedtime 😁)

If you need any assistance with implementing this, reach out to me as I’d love to work with you!

Happy Monday, y’all! Whether you choose to teach your baby good sleep habits, a strict schedule, or if you’re just going with the flow, babies will sleep at some point or another.

This cutie just turned 4 months and this age (3-4 months) is the perfect time to get your baby to sleep through the night and to get nice, solid, longer than 30-minute naps :)

DM me and me know if I can help!

It’s that time of year again... ⏰ Daylight Savings Time!! ⏰

As we all know it’s right around the corner and sometimes this can be a dreaded time where, if you don’t prepare, you might get stuck with a baby that wakes At 6 am! Here are some ways to transition through this time smoothly:

⏱ Prepare to start transitioning at least a week before (this upcoming Saturday) by extending your “schedule” 10-15 minutes later. So if your baby wakes at 7 am, get your baby at around 7:10-7:15 am. With this, push back your naps and bedtime 10-15 minutes as well.

⏱ Each day, push back times 10-15 minutes. So eventually you will end up having your wake and bed times an hour later than they normally are. This way, by 11/1, you will “fall back” and will be at the regular time that wake and bedtime was at.

⏱ I’d make sure that you have a dark room environment as by 10/31, when your baby is almost waking an hour later, it will be light in the morning (let’s say 8 am).

⏱ Don’t stress!! If it doesn’t work perfectly, it’s okay! If 11/1 comes and things are a little off you can always transition after.

If you’d like help with this, my one week package will fit just right! Send me a DM or email.

Happy Friday, Y’all 😀 This newborn picture make me wanna have more babies!!!

Babies 0-3 months still haven’t fully developed their melatonin production and are still trying to figure out their days and nights. It is very common to have babies this age sleep a lot during the day and be awake at night which is TOTALLY opposite of what you do or want. As much as I am a night owl myself, numerous days of being up all night takes a toll on you.

A few tips for helping:

🤞 Try to keep naps to 2/2.5 hrs during the day. I know that just making it past a 20 min nap seems tough, but if your baby decides to take a long snooze, try to keep within this time. The goal is to have the long stretches at night.

🤞 Try to have a set wake up time and a set night time where you do the same things every morning and every night. For example at night, when it’s time for bed and you start going through your routine: bath, jammies, book/cuddle, feeding, and song, baby starts to recognize these cues and over time will know “it’s bedtime!”.

🤞 Try to keep the room dark at night when you wake to do feedings or change a diaper. This will show that it’s sleep time!

Introducing my Free Newborn Guide!🤱

The newborn stage is such a sweet period of time in a family's life. You know your new baby will be sweet, cuddly, and snuggly, but what’s next after that? How should you know when your baby need to sleep vs. eat? How can you calm baby when they’ve already been fed?

As a NICU nurse, when I had my first baby, I thought, “Oh, I’ll just feed every three hours, swaddle, and my baby will sleep in between feeds just like in the hospital. Easy, right?”

Well that was clearly not how my baby wanted to do things.

I’ve created a guide to not only help out new parents, but also to make the early baby stage for your family more restful and relaxing so you can enjoy time with your newborn. This guide will walk you through a healthy newborn sleep environment, optimal sleep cycles, wake windows, how to calm a crying baby, daily routines, swaddling tips, and much more! Is your baby ready to sleep in their own room? How long does your baby need to sleep in your room? These are all questions that parents ask themselves when: A. Baby is getting older/bigger or B. YOU just aren’t sleeping! 💤

Sleep for you is just as important as it is for your little one. You are not nearly getting enough sleep as you should be and when you do try to relax, so many things are going through your mind. When did I feed last? How long did I feed for last feed? Which breast did I use last? How many wet diapers or p**ps has baby had today? What day is it? What time is it? What’s for dinner? As much as you want baby close to you at all times, it’s sometimes hard to have your baby in your room when you try to relax. I get it!

There are many benefits for your baby to sleep in the same room such as preventing sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and the ease of breastfeeding, but think about the WHOLE picture. You want to be able to be alert and care for your baby, minimize postpartum depression and keep your relationship thriving with your partner and not getting much sleep can drastically affect your life. 💤

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) states that babies should sleep in the same room from a minimum of 6 months to (preferably) 12 months to reduce the risk of (SIDS). But this doesn’t work with every family. What is the most important is to know the facts behind these recommendations and do what is right for your family’s sanity and well-being as well as your baby’s safety. Just remember, wherever baby sleeps, practicing safe sleeping habits are important no matter what.

If you are a family wanting baby sleep help, I am here for you! I have a newborn guide and will come up with a sleep plan that works well for your family to get the sleep you deserve. 💤

Would you know what to do if your baby swallowed something? Would you know what to do if your baby stopped breathing? What if your baby fell in a pool?

All of these questions may seem like scary scenarios, but they don’t have to be. Knowing what to do and acting fast can save a life. Be ready. Be alert. Save a life! ❤️

When couples are preparing to welcome their new baby into their lives, they typically think of the clothes, the necessities, the toys, etc. While those are also important, it’s also vital to think about keeping a newborn safe. It’s a great idea for new parents to take an infant CPR course as it helps parents feel prepared to act fast if their baby chokes on food when they start solids, or if they experience trouble breathing. Be prepared!❤️

I am now offering a Baby Safety course which includes evidenced based lifesaving skills and guidelines as practiced by the American Heart Association. I am a certified American Heart Association CPR instructor that can teach professionals as well as non professionals. Let me know if you have a caregiver or nanny who you would like to get certified. This is definitely a great skill to know to give you the piece of mind that someone else knows that to do when you aren’t there! ❤️

Caught him mid YAWN 🥱

My girlfriend just had a baby last night and it just reminded me how much I love little newborns 👶🏻 ...their sleep can be a little erratic at times, but it is totally NORMAL!

With babies, an important thing to look out for are their sleep cues which can be very helpful when it comes to a baby’s sleep.

Some early signs: redness around eyes, gazing/staring, looking elsewhere. These signs say “I’m sleepy. Let’s start putting me to bed”

Normal Signs: yawning, rubbing eyes, fussy. These signs say “Get me to bed now please”

Late signs: hands in fists, crying, not wanting to be held. These signs say “I’m overtired, get me to sleep NOW!”

Some days are off and that’s totally fine. Being flexible is possible as you don’t have to follow a rigid schedule. Whichever way you want to go about your day is the right way! Babies will sleep :)
