These days with a 9 and 11 year old, I’m not wiping little behinds anymore. But if I had a dollar for every time I wiped down a counter, cooktop, sink or some other surface I’d be 🤑🤑🤑

Hey moms- I see you! The wiping, cleaning, snacks, and meal making feels never ending. Be encouraged. The work you do matters even if it doesn’t feel like it. 😁

Happy Friday!

Winter in Seattle can feel like it drags on forever. Winter in Seattle during COVID feels even longer.

The memories we’ve created on nights like this, though... gathering around a crackling fire with family and friends, are ones I’ll remember forever.

I’m over the isolation of COVID. I miss people. I also see so a lot of good that has come out of the 12 months.

How about you? What good have you seen in your life over the last year?

Exercise and nutrition isn't everything.

You might be surprised to hear me say that!?

Of course I love watching the pounds drop off, seeing muscles form where they didn't exist before, and feeling lean and strong. I love seeing this in my Bootcampers even more!

But it's not what I'm really after.

When you fuel your body with good food and you move your body regularly, something amazing happens. You feel better about yourself and you feel better about your life. You have more energy. Your mental cycles start to free up and you start thinking less about what you should/shouldn't eat or how you're going to look in a swimsuit this summer (just me?) You start thinking MORE about how proud you are of what your body can do, how you’re transforming, and what a healthy lifestyle might make possible for your future. Why not put your mental energy toward that instead? It doesn't need to be as hard as we make it.

Taking good care of your body is a gateway to greater things. For me, living a healthy lifestyle is about who I want to be for myself and for the people I love. I want to be the mom (and eventually the grandma!) who gets on the floor and plays and gives my grandkids piggyback rides. I want to be the mom who is never "too tired" keep up with my active boys. Most of all, I want to break the cycle of comfort eating and inactivity that I grew up with, and pass the importance of a healthy lifestyle on to my kids.

Some personal growth gurus call this your "why". For most of us, our WHY isn't about weight, inches or muscle. It's about moving toward who we want to be for ourselves and for the people we love. I truly believe that fitness and nutrition = freedom and THAT is what I'm after.

That is why I'm passionate about helping women improve their fitness and nutrition so they can chase after the true desires of their heart (without being out of breath 😆!)

I want to see YOU have a breakthrough in your health. What is your WHY and how can fitness and nutrition unlock your potential to get you there?

I’m not a fan of “diets” as we define them these days: torturous, restrictive eating schemes that have you buying, cooking and consuming food you don’t like. Or tracking every gram, ounce and calorie in everything you eat. For me, all of these efforts lead to giving up and not getting the results I so badly wanted.

What if you could eat real, healthy food that you enjoy while getting leaner, stronger and feeling better?
I eat normal, healthy food that I like, I eat meals with my family, I enjoy wine and sweets a few times a week and I’m losing weight and getting stronger every day.

This doesn’t have to be hard- and you don’t have to get rid of everything in your pantry. I want you to get results in a way that you can enjoy and maintain for the rest of your life.

I can show you how!!
My next Bootcamp kicks off on 2/15- join me!!

Anyone who has ever done anything worth doing will tell you that motivation is overrated.

I finally settled on my word for 2021: "CONSISTENCY". When it came to me I didn't like it at first. It felt boring, which I think may have actually been the point 😁

I prefer the shiny object and variety and I get bored easily. All of which prevent me from getting any real results on anything that requires staying the course over time whether I feel motivated to or not.

It's true: consistency IS boring! But when I reflect on the things I love/am proud of in my life, consistent effort has produced so much good: parenting my kids, being married, helping women find freedom through health and fitness, running a marathon, and so much more. We know that when we show up and do the work day after day it pays off. So let's be consistent in the areas that are meaningful to us ok?

What do you want to show up for this week/month/year?

You won't lose weight if you don't change the way you eat.

I wish someone told me this years ago. I've always sort of known that food played a role in how I felt and how my body looked and I wondered why my weight was creeping up even though I was an active person? I didn't understand what healthy eating could look like as a sustainable lifestyle rather than a restrictive path to hell 😱

A lot of women I've invited to join my virtual fitness & nutrition bootcamps jump on board with the workouts right away but struggle to incorporate the nutrition programs into their life. The 2 nutrition options we follow are super simple but I think people still believe they can get results with workouts alone. And if you're 18 years old or have a raging metabolism, then maybe you can. For the rest of us, 80%+ of weight loss results come from the kitchen.

On its own exercise has many benefits including endorphins, stress relief, increasing strength and cardiovascular health. If you want those benefits AND to drop some pounds, it's time to plug into a nutrition plan that works. I'd love to help! DM me for details.

Got goals for 2021? Things you want to accomplish? Ways you want to improve or change? Have I got a book for you!

I just finished Steven Pressfield's book "War of Art" and I highly recommend it. In the book he speaks to anyone who has ever tried to do anything that was important to them ( ).

The thing that stuck with me most were his thoughts on "Resistance". Resistance is essentially the conversation in our heads that leads to lack of motivation, making excuses, distraction, procrastination, and whatever else your brain throws up to prevent you from JUST DOING THE THING.

Whether you're pursuing a new creative hobby, starting a company or non-profit, beginning a nutrition or workout program (hello Bootcampers!), going back to school, aiming to help others, improve your relationships, or bettering yourself in literally ANY WAY, you can count on resistance to show up and try to stop you.

If you started off 2021 pursuing anything new, you're probably already experiencing resistance. Pressfield says "The more important a call or action is to our soul's evolution, the more Resistance we will feel toward pursuing it. It's a repelling force. It's negative. Its aim is to shove us away, distract us, prevent us from doing our work." Sound familiar?

I experience Resistance EVERY morning when the alarm goes off and it's time for my workout. Just me??

So what's the cure? Unfortunately there isn't one. Resistance is tricky. It shows up in new ways every day to throw us off. You might think that experiencing Resistance means that you should give up what you’re trying to do. DO NOT GIVE UP! Instead, take the resistance you're experiencing as confirmation that your goal is the right one to pursue. The only cure for resistance is to become aware of it, attack it head on every day and DO THE THING you were born to do.

How has resistance shown up in your life? Drop a comment below!
