🌎 World MS Day — May 30 🧡

Today we recognize World MS Day, a day to raise awareness, educate, advocate, and support individuals living with multiple sclerosis.

🧠 What is MS?

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. It can affect movement, strength, sensation, balance, vision, cognition, bladder/bowel function, and fatigue levels. Symptoms vary widely from person to person.

💙 Why does OT work with individuals with MS?

Occupational therapy helps people with MS participate in the daily activities that matter most — dressing, bathing, cooking, working, parenting, driving, home access, community mobility, and energy conservation.

♿ How can DME and wheelchairs help?

For some individuals with MS, mobility equipment is not “giving up.” It is access. Canes, walkers, scooters, manual wheelchairs, and power wheelchairs can support safety, conserve energy, reduce fall risk, and improve participation in self-care, family life, work, leisure, and community mobility.

At LimbTech, we believe mobility equipment should be matched to the person, their environment, and their occupations — not just a diagnosis.

🧡 World MS Day reminds us:

Accessibility is healthcare.

Energy conservation is function.

The right equipment can protect independence.

And mobility is participation.

What does inclusion mean? 🤍✨

Does it mean making sure all kids have the same accessibility rights? ♿️

Athletes with various disabilities and abilities get to participate? 🏅👏

Does it mean that we should accommodate games, activities, and sports for all? ⚽️🏀🎾

YES! 🌈🫶

All day I tell the girls “be kind and be inclusive.” 💕

If my girls learn anything, it’s more fun for all to be involved than just some. 🤝🎉

Be more aware of how to include everyone.

Be more conscious of how a mom of a child with a disability will feel if you exclude their child. 🤍

Be thoughtful of how you might make someone feel if you include their child. 🫶✨

Inclusion is all of us coming together for all of us to feel loved, important, and part of the team. 🤍🌈👏

My team is more than happy to provide resources, advice, and consultation to help ensure that all children feel included, loved, seen, and heard. Please reach out to us if we can support you in any way to make your activity more inclusive. 💕🤝✨

May is ALS Awareness Month 💙🧠

ALS doesn’t just affect movement. It changes how someone navigates the world. As mobility becomes more limited, access to the right wheelchair and positioning support becomes essential, not optional.

Proper mobility equipment is about more than getting from place to place. It is about preserving independence, protecting the body from further complications, and maintaining dignity through every stage of the disease.

Every adjustment, every support, every moment of comfort matters. Because even as ALS progresses, the goal remains the same, helping individuals live as fully, safely, and independently as possible.

The Ice Bucket Challenge played a powerful role in bringing ALS into the global conversation. It created visibility, sparked communication, and encouraged people to learn and talk about the disease. It also drove significant funding for research and strengthened advocacy efforts, helping improve support, resources, and hope for those living with ALS.

Awareness matters. Advocacy matters. Access matters. 💙

As Occupational Therapy Month wraps up 💙 we’re reflecting on the meaningful difference OT practitioners make each day—helping people participate more fully, build independence, and thrive in the moments that matter most.
Grateful for the occupational therapy professionals, students, and advocates whose creativity, compassion, and dedication shape stronger, more inclusive communities—not just this month, but all year long.
We hope our daily April stories gave you a deeper look into all things OT and left you inspired along the way!

Happy Last Day of Occupational Therapy Month 💙✨

What a month it has been celebrating the heart of occupational therapy and the impact it has on everyday lives 🙌

Occupational therapy is all about helping people do the things that matter most 💛 From daily routines to life-changing milestones, we are honored to be part of the journey.

Here are just a few of the amazing things we do 👇

• Help people regain independence in daily activities 🧠🪥👕
• Support children in play, learning, and development 🧸📚✨
• Improve mobility, access, and participation in the community ♿🌍
• Provide adaptive equipment and creative solutions 🛠️💡
• Support mental health, regulation, and coping ❤️🧘‍♀️
• Help individuals return to work, school, and meaningful roles 💼🏫
• Use telehealth to reach and support rural communities 💻📍
• Advocate for accessibility and inclusion for all 🤝💙

We meet people where they are and help them get where they want to be 🌱

Thank an OT practitioner today for their hardwork and dedication to this profession! ❤️

Day 29 of Occupational Therapy Month 💻🌾✨

Today we’re celebrating how occupational therapy is embracing telehealth to reach rural communities 💙📍

Access to care should not depend on location. Through telehealth, OT practitioners are breaking down barriers and bringing services directly into people’s homes, no matter how far away they may be 🏡💻

In rural areas, this means increased access to skilled care, reduced travel burden 🚗⬇️, and more consistent support for individuals and families 🙌💛

But none of this happens without advocacy 📣

OT practitioners are continuously advocating for expanded telehealth services, equitable reimbursement, and policies that support access for underserved communities. Advocacy ensures these services are not only available, but sustainable and accessible to those who need them most ✨⚖️

From daily routines and home safety 🏠 to adaptive strategies and caregiver education 🤝, telehealth allows OT practitioners to meet clients in their real-life environments and create meaningful, functional change 🌟

This is how we expand access 🌍
This is how we improve quality of life 💙
This is how we move healthcare forward 🚀

Day 28 of Occupational Therapy Month ♿️✨💛

Today we’re celebrating wheelchairs and accessibility 🦽🌍✨

Mobility is more than getting from place to place, it’s about independence, participation, and living life to the fullest 💪💛🙌
Wheelchairs are powerful tools that open doors 🚪 to meaningful activities, community access 🏫, and everyday life 🛍️🎉

In occupational therapy, we look beyond movement 👀

We focus on how people function in their daily routines, helping individuals find the right fit 🦽✔️, adapt their environments 🏡🔧, and build the skills needed to thrive 🌱✨

Shoutout to amazing organizations like LimbTech 🙌 and Mobility Matters Foundation 💙 who are making mobility and accessibility possible for so many 👏🌟

A lot of people think this is only a PT domain 🧠➡️🏃‍♂️

But it truly takes both OT and PT working together 🤝 to support mobility, independence, and participation 💪♿️✨

Accessibility matters ♿️
Independence matters 💛
People matter 🌎💫

Day 27 of Occupational Therapy Month 🔐

Today we are recognizing occupational therapy practitioners working within the prison system 🧡

This is a setting many people do not often think about, but the impact is powerful. Occupational therapy in correctional facilities focuses on helping individuals build the skills needed to successfully reintegrate into the community.

Practitioners address life skills, emotional regulation, mental health, substance use recovery, vocational readiness, and daily routines. They support individuals in developing healthier habits, improving coping strategies, and increasing independence, all essential for reducing recidivism and promoting long term success.

Occupational therapy in this setting is about more than rehabilitation, it is about restoration, dignity, and creating opportunities for a better future.

Helping people rebuild their lives and participate fully in meaningful occupations is what OT is all about 💛
