Trace Mineral Focus: IRON

IRON DEFICIENCY is incredibly common amongst women, including myself. Do you ever feel exhausted, dizzy, struggle to focus or keep getting sick a bit too often? I do, yet somehow IRON DEFICIENCY is not at the forefront of my mind as the reasons for not feeling good. It’s a good time to visit your nearest GP and get some blood test done!

We all should feel at our best and sometimes the solution is so simple! 💪

INGREDIENTS:

• ¼ watermelon
• ½ cup tequila
• ¼ cup lime juice
• salt
• ice, to serve
• lime, garnish

METHOD:

1. Cube the watermelon and freeze.

2. Once 🍉 is ready add to a blender, pour the lime juice, tequila and mix.

3. Run the lime along the rim of the glass and dip it in salt.

4. Add ice to the glass and fill with margarita.

5. Garnish with more lime and fresh mint 🌿.

For all peanut butter addicts!

DRY:

• 3 cups raw buckwheat
• 3/4 cup chopped nuts/seeds
• 1/2 cup shredded coconut
• 2 tbsp chia seeds/flax seeds
• 3 tbsp coconut sugar
• 1/2 tsp sea salt
• 1 tsp cinnamon

WET:

• 1/4 cup coconut/olive oil
• 1/3 cup maple syrup
• 3 tbs peanut butter

ADD INS:

• 1/3 cup dried fruit

1. Pre-heat the oven to 165°C.

2. Combine all the dry ingredients.

3. Gently heat the oil then add maple syrup and peanut butter. Mix well.

4. Pour the hot mixture over the dry ingredients, coat well and bake in the oven for 25 - 30 minutes or until lightly golden.

5. Once baked add dry fruits when still hot.

6. Store in an airtight jar or container.

7. Serve with your favourite yogurt and seasonal fruit 🥭 🍓.

Drop a ♥️ if you agree.

Did you know digestion isn’t a primary function of a human body?
When we stress our stomach produces LESS ENZYMES to deal with the food ingested. I like the notion of INTUITIVE EATING in a positive environment. Next time your stress go for a walk, a run or do anything that requires energy. Stress after all is a fight or flight response so it’s more helpful to do something active instead of emotionally indulging in food. Same with dieting, it doesn’t work as it puts our bodies in a stressful state... sounds familiar?? Eat more whole foods, lose weight... is my mantra! ♥️ It has done wonders in my ED recovery! 💪 💪

My self-body image wasn’t always good. Camera shy, uncomfortable and it would show big time!!

One of the reasons for Bikini Chef! 👩‍🍳
With more positive inner self talk, mindset and confidence you can do miracles!

One of the strategies I used was putting a sticky note on the bathroom mirror which read ‘I ACCEPT MYSELF UNCONDITIONALLY RIGHT NOW’

To my surprise and initial disbelief it DID work wonders ✨.

Apple Banana Bread
with Macadamias

NEW FAV BANANA BREAD
So delish and moist!

GF

INGREDIENTS:

Dry:
• 1 cup almond meal
• ¼ cup coconut flour
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• ½ tsp salt

Wet:
• 3 eggs
• 2.5 banana
• ⅓︎ coconut oil
• 3 tbsp peanut butter
• ¾ - 1 cup applesauce
• 1 tsp vanilla

METHOD:

1. Combine all the dry ingredients.

2. Mash the banana then add the remaining wet ingredients.

3. Add the wet mix into the dry and stir till combined.

4. Line a loaf tin with baking paper and pour in the mix.

5. Top with whole macadamias and leftover apples and enjoy it for brekky or as a snack.

I found this recipe online then lost it so had to recreate the ingredients and quantities from memory...

TRIGGERS... 🔫

We all have some 💭 and they fire quick 💥 or at least mine do... 😁
Seemingly insignificant yet they get you to the core at times and I cannot hide it.

Usually, in my personal post, I write what my logic behind solving a problem is. This time however, I’m asking YOU for HELP and some TIPS on how to cope with these annoying habits.
I’ve identified a few ‘buttons’ I have and I’m looking for strategies that would help to stop firing up in an instant... or getting defensive when there’s absolutely no need for it.

Things I’m trying is:
• lauging at it / turning into a joke thanks to
• mirroring
• saying ‘I don’t want you’ thanks to
• looking at whoever is causing the trigger with empathy, another fellow human most likely blindly unaware of my ‘buttons’
• loving approach, this one is a struggle ... but happy to give anything a GO!

I’ve been told I’d look good wearing a bin bag. Agee ☺️. I’m confident but still humble. Years back, if someone paid me a compliment, I’d get embarrassed and tell them to stop making things up. In return, I was told I’m being ungrateful. I’ve done some work on my self-esteem and these days if I hear something nice I say: I know 😏, thank you which often is surprising. I’m not overconfident, nor big-headed, still have lots to work on, but I know my worth. 💪

Sometimes it feels like I’m pulled in different directions by opposing forces. 😇 + 😈
I’m enjoy PEACE 🧘‍♀️ and QUIET but I’m a bit CRAZY 😜 at the same time. There’s a lot of CONFIDENCE 😏 but some SHYNESS ☺️and FEAR hide deep down. I love being ORGANISED 🤓and strive for perfection but heaps of SCATTERBRAINED 🤪action to go by on a daily basis.
Some SHAME 😔 left over interspersed with PRIDE 😁 too.
I seem pretty REASONABLE yet sometimes feels like there’s a lot of NONSENSE I try to make sense of. I’m RESILIENT and TOUGH 💪 yet SENSITIVE plus EMPATHETIC 🤗 which at times turns into a weakness. I like SIMPLE 🙂 life yet CHALLENGES 😓 make me thrive and GROW... I know what I want one minute then feel lost soon after.

I accept and befriend them all, both the more and less helpful ones, and do my best to have fun and learn making sense out of this nonsense. 😀🙌🤔💭

I look at ASKING for HELP as a sign of STRENGTH 💪 not weakness.
Not an easy thing for me either, but with PRACTICE I got better.
I used to fear asking for favours as always heard a stern no from my dad, no explanation given... I do not like bothering others either and I used to have ‘I can do it all myself’ approach aka goody two-shoes or ‘Zosia samosia’ in Polish.
I see tremendous value in consulting experts, professionals and those who care. It makes things far more efficient and easier. More often than not, people often enjoy being of service.
I had a few sessions a psychologist to deal with my childhood trauma; it was truly life changing.
I asked a few friends to check my resume, I received invaluable advice.
If I needed a lift or a bath 🛀 🤣, help with moving, marketing, or just felt lonely I wouldn’t hesitate to seek support.
Listening to what others go through and simply sharing my struggles feels freeing, makes any ‘load’ lighter and helps with finding a solution.
It’s a two-way street and I am always willing to lend a helping hand. 🤗
