Calling all student athletes!!! The CCNY Counseling Center and Athletics Department proudly present our discussion on improving athletic performance by helping you stay mentally focused as an athlete. Psychological Well-being: Performance Optimization for Athletes - In this workshop, student-athletes will learn the early warning signs of declining mental health including, sleep and appetite changes, risky behaviors, and relationship difficulties. Students will also discuss identity and expectations of being a student athlete and the potential of overwhelming pressure. Finally, students will learn about anxiety in various forms (performance anxiety, generalized anxiety, and perfectionism) and various strategies to manage this anxiety more effectively. Led by Kyle Ross, MA who is a psychology doctoral candidate at Hofstra University and currently doing an internship at the CCNY Counseling Center. Kyle is a former athlete who has played multiple sports, and he intends to work in the sports psychology field in the future! Come to MR-3 (Marshak Room 3, ground floor near the planetarium) on December 12th to learn how to improve your performance in sports and in the classroom.
