We’re so proud to announce that our Birth Partners and Parent Helpers across Grampian and Tayside are now ready to start supporting women and birthing people in their communities, providing gentle, respectful, and down-to-earth support through pregnancy, birth, and the early days of parenting to those who need it most.

Our volunteers will walk beside our clients as they navigate the NHS and other services, listening and supporting without judgement, every step of the way.

Aberdeen Birth Collective antenatal classes are back this month and next, so if you're expecting a baby we'd love to welcome you along.

The dates are 17th and 28th May in Stonehaven and 28th and 29th June at a venue tbc in Central Aberdeenshire.

Hello good pregnant folks of Aberdeenshire!!!

We are running a fully funded (FREE to access!) weekend antenatal course on Saturday 22nd February and Sunday 23rd February 12-5pm and we would love to have you come join us at the gorgeous space has set up in Monymusk, Inverurie. Our last group session there was such a roaring success we decided to make it a thing!

Thanks to our funding award from Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action we are able to now bring our popular Aberdeen Birth Collective classes to Aberdeenshire, meaning greater access to excellent independent birth preparation for families across the Grampian area.

Operating in partnership with Grampian and Tayside Birth Partners, we will deliver a comprehensive antenatal class that covers a bit of everything, including decision making skills, navigating the NHS and positions for labour. To name just a few!

Well, we have been both quiet and very busy! What’s that you say, not one but three logos... 👀

That’s right, our beloved Aberdeen Birth Collective is in the process of winding down, and slowly but surely by next summer we will have closed this opening chapter and will have stretched our wings a little further.

So consider this the official soft launch of our new venture Grampian and Tayside Birth Partners, we know, it’s not snappy to say, but it’s exactly what it says on the tin!!

Grampian and Tayside Birth Partners brings together the skills and experience of three very like-minded birth workers, striving to make continuity of care and improved outcomes a reality for all people who need it.

That's right, the powerhouse combo of up in Aberdeen, in Perthshire and all the way down in Edinburgh, combining to bring vital birth support services to those in need throughout eastern central and the north east of Scotland.

Inspired by past clients of ABC, it made sense to us to set up Grampian and Tayside Birth Partners, bringing independent doula support to people who wouldn’t normally have access to such a service. Currently working in partnership with ABC, we are excited to announce our first cohort - training starts in January in Aberdeen, with Tayside to follow shortly after this!

What does GTPB do though I hear you ask? Using the Red Tent doula preparation course as our framework, we train volunteers to attend births within their community as peer supporters. We have had so much interest in the project so far, and we are so excited to get started.

We are looking for people to fill various roles and to get involved, so if you think you could offer any help, or attending births is something you have always dreamed of, then we might be the ones for you!

We are so excited to launch our first volunteer and training opportunity in partnership with and Grampian and Tayside Birth Partners.

The first round of training is in January in Aberdeen, and it will require a time commitment.

We are delighted to be offering our weekend intensive course again this year. The course consist of two, doula led, completely independent, fully funded community birth preparation sessions.  

Classes will explore all aspects of labour + birth, birth environment, the role of the birth partner, relaxation and movement tools as well as offer a chance to socialise, relax and talk over anything that is on your minds.
