Do you know how to snack smart with insulin resistance? You’re going to want to save these yummy snack combos for later!⁠

The goal of snacking with insulin resistance is to keep your blood sugar stable while bridging a longer gap between main meals. ⁠

Snacking on ‘naked’ carbs can send you off onto the blood sugar roller coaster of fatigue and cravings, that’s why you want to pair your carbs with healthy fats or protein! ⁠

These are some of my favourite smart snack duos… ⁠

Kiwi (CARB) + Pistachios (FAT)⁠
Grainy crackers (CARB) + Avocado (FAT)⁠
Berries (CARB) + Yoghurt (PROTEIN)⁠
Apple (CARB) + Almond Butter (FAT)⁠

Pairing your snacks will slow the digestion of the carb, keeping blood sugar controlled to prevent excessive insulin production which is key for weight loss 💫⁠

Finding weight is easy to gain and hard to lose? It's not your fault! It's so easy to get stuck in this vicious cycle of carb cravings when you have insulin resistance. Comment below if you can relate!⁠

These constant cravings are partly why people with insulin resistance struggle with their weight but what's also important to understand is that insulin is a fat storage hormone, so if you have excess insulin floating around on a regular basis, the harder it will be to manage your weight. ⁠

The positive spin on this is that insulin resistance CAN be improved, and even reversed, with the right combination of sustainable dietary and lifestyle strategies.⁠
