Today is March 1st which kicks off cerebral palsy awareness month and March 25th being cerebral palsy awareness day. Here is a poem I wrote from my prospective of having cerebral palsy to encourage and inspire every person I know and do not know that is living with cerebral palsy also.

As a business owner with a disability it’s my duty to advocate for those who cannot!

It has taken much thought and courage, but as of March 1st 2023 I have also decided to write a book about my journey with cerebral palsy and share my story that will maybe one day touch someone’s life. Updates on my journey through this writing process will be shared periodically.

The Steps I Take
“Walking Through Life with Cerebral Palsy”

The steps I take;
Sometimes my feet drag heavy

From the miles I have traveled to overcome

Learning to lift them lightly, for this journey has just begun

The steps I take;
My legs may be wobbly

Yes, my body swings unequally from side to side

While my face blings with confidence, carrying a smile I cannot hide

The steps I take;
When I am judged

From life situations that I have been dealt

Will anyone know the perceptions I have felt?

The steps I take;
When my confidence runs low

While my mental climbs mountains I obviously could not hide

My repellent against obstacles is a deep love and self-acceptance inside

The steps I take;
Walking through life with Cerebral Palsy

As I walk my faith holds steady, eyes wide shut
The mere thought of giving up never crosses my mind

I have discovered my gifts making the ‘dis’ in my ability hard to find

Every since I started getting my chakras aligned I’ve seen a heavy increase in condescendence and gaslighting from people and it’s honestly hysterical. What running Divinity Health and Wellness Utopia has taught me is that people will use anything down to words, actions, non verbal gestures to gaslight and manipulate you in order to dim your light because they can’t see the brightness within themselves to the full capacity. Do the work to align your energy for yourself so you are not threatened by people who are born to heal.

⚠️Just a post to get people thinking⚠️

🛑First and foremost I don’t care about criticism because this is my lived experience over multiple years dealing with this so I will not be phased by negativity🛑

I don’t normally share my experiences with cerebral palsy rather big or small but I’m going to start.

I came home today from a long day of working and running errands after work and thinking of my journey with cerebral palsy over the years has me wondering how people view me especially with the moves I’ve been making lately. Being disabled in this society is 10X harder than people think it is. I’ve realized all of the accomplishments I’ve made thus far seem huge to others specifically because of my circumstances but I just do what I’m put on earth to do so I don’t see it as something major. A lot of people seem to think the disabled community gets free money from the gov and just doesn’t try to live well and push through in society to be able to create a life where they are comfortable but honestly it’s quite the opposite. For me I say it’s harder not just mentally, physically and emotionally but financially as well and in ways people don’t consider. Something little as this imagine…. If y’all only knew how many flats I have to buy every other month. Shoes an able bodied person can wear for years, I only get about 1-2 months use especially if they are slides or flats 😮‍💨😂💀 And that’s because I’m mild but can walk. Imagine the people with my same disability who have it a little more severe but still can walk. Just sitting thinking today after pulling out my moms driveway “I really need some more flats” 😂

Walk like Me

Yes sometimes my feet drag heavy

Only from life situations that I have been delt

My body swings from side to side

While my face bears a smile I cannot hide

As I walk my pride holds strong like a levy

While I walk my head stays held high

I might walk with a slouch but I still try

Keeping my head up not stopping

Just moving on up like a cherry topping

Now walk like me and see if your flame will die

Recapping my time in 2019

For years I’ve struggled with having Cerebral Palsy and I met who is the one person I can look up to when I have hard times. 5 years ago I subscribed to her YouTube channel.
