Sunday’s are for a yummy brunch! At least that’s what I wanted today, I wanted to cozy up and make a wholesome meal since it is snowing in Utah today!

I also like to take Sundays as a time to unwind from a busy week. I like to relax, prep for the next week, reflect on what I can do to make my week productive and even better than the last.

Taking that time is setting yourself up for success!

DISCONNECT AND REST
I am a big advocate of getting enough sleep each night. It helps so much with your overall wellness. You will get sick less often, be able to think more clearly, be more effective and efficient in school and at work, and get along better with other people when you have adequate rest.

Disconnecting yourself electronically for a bit is necessary for proper brain function. Consider putting your phone away an hour before bed so you can sleep better. This is a habit that I am still trying to develop. Give it a try and see if you sleep better!

Today is Health Coach day! It is a day to show appreciation to Health Coaches and Wellness advocates around the world! I did my health coach training through IIN (Institute of Integrative Nutrition). It was such a great program and I’m grateful that I got to be a part of it. My training led me to work for and I’m so grateful and happy to be a part of their team! MOVE YOUR BODY

Developing the habit to have more physical activity throughout your day can help your immune system. It helps flush bacteria out of the lungs and airways. This could reduce your chance of getting a cold, flu, or other illness.

Do a home workout or gym workout. A lot of gyms are still closed. My gym just opened back up a few weeks ago and it’s been so great to be back and get some good workouts in! GET OUTSIDE

With the weather getting warmer, it’s a great time to get outside. It not only will help our immune system but it helps our moods. Being outside helps your body and brain. It will also help naturally to increase your Vitamin D intake. Vitamin D is called the “sunshine vitamin” because it’s produced in your skin in response to sunlight.

I had some fun in the sun on a hot day with my best friend and nieces. We had a water fight! We had a great time and got some extra Vitamin D. Have fun and be creative with things you can do outside!

MANAGE STRESS

Many of us may be under a lot of stress right now. Whatever your reasons, it’s more important now than ever to take the time to manage your stress.

Find something you enjoy or helps you to relieve stress and do it daily. It could be something new you want to try. I have recently been doing some paint by number projects. It’s been tedious but very therapeutic for me. If you feel it’s too hard to make time to do something, start with just 10 minutes, and then increase a little more time as time goes on.

Banana Raspberry Nice cream!
A favorite breakfast, snack, or even dessert!
-Blend frozen bananas and raspberries
-add a little water if needed
-I also sometimes add a little bit of vanilla extract or maple syrup for some extra sweetness
-add toppings (you can use fresh fruit, cacao nibs, goji berries, chia seeds, granola, cereal, coconut, etc.)

Facts about some of these superfood toppings:

*Chia seeds are rich in antioxidants and they provide fiber, iron, and calcium.

*Cacao nibs have the ability to lift your mood. They also help to reduce stress and inflammation.

*Goji berries boost immune system and are filled with antioxidants that help your eyes and skin.

Hey there! I’m Veronica. I just recently finished a Health Coach program I have been working on for the past 6 months through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. I have learned so much and have such a strong passion for Health and Wellness. This page is called Wellness Keys. I will be sharing different keys to wellness. I will be touching not just on the physical/nutrition side of things but about your over all wellness. I will be having a website up and running soon and will be taking clients soon.
