Why you SHOULDN’T always say yes…

When you say yes to things when you barely have any bandwidth, you’re only harming yourself in the long run.

You may think adding more to your plate makes you seem more “productive” or “ambitious” to others, but in reality, adding too much to your plate may be the root cause of mental and emotional stress ➡️ which may lead to procrastination ➡️ which can get to the point of an overloaded agenda ➡️ which can lead into even more overwhelm in the future.

Mental and emotional overwhelm and stress over time leads to burnout and exhaustion.

Before you take on one more task, one more project, one more engagement, take a moment to pause and assess…

🔅Find it in you to say yes to situations, events, activities, and/or tasks, only after assessing your bandwidth, your energy levels, and the pros and cons

🔅Be honest with yourself and others. It’s okay to say no when it’s not a full fck yes.

🔅The only person who can give you true validation is yourself. If you’re saying yes only to please others, it will come at the cost of your own well-being.

And remember, the more we say no to things that will not serve us, the more we are saying YES to the things that will 💛

Takeaway Affirmations:
🔆 The less I do, the more I can deliver
🔆 It’s safe for me to say no when it’s not in alignment for me
🔆 I release the need to receive external validation— I already know I am more than enough

If you’re feeling:
☑️ physically / mentally / emotionally exhausted
☑️ emotionally detached
☑️ energetically depleted with no motivation to get anything done

…it’s so easy to get stuck in a negative mental loop.

It’s important to remember that you are in the driver seat of your life: you can always pause for a moment and redirect your mood, emotions, and energy.

Find ways to help you feel and be your best self again:

🔴make your physical activity / movement practice a priority

🟠take a moment to center and find your breath

🟡release what’s on your mind through journaling or “brain-dumping”

🟢learn or do something new to nourish your brain and sense of creativity

I used to base my “worthiness” off of my productivity and my level of tiredness at the end of the day. In my head, if was productive it means that I made positive change in the world; if I was super tired, it meant I gave it my all.

Doing this every day for so many years kept my sympathetic nervous system on overdrive and I eventually hit a brick wall. I was burnt out. I couldn’t maintain this mindset without breaking down in tears in silence and always having an underlying sense of dread.

I’m grateful that I did hit rock bottom because the only way to go from there was up. I learned how to ask for support, focused on mindfulness rather than the hustle and grind mindset, and embodied the lessons learned from my counseling/life coaching sessions.

I hope this weekend you give yourself enough rest to be your best self, however that looks like for you 💛

the past 4 weeks have really flown by. seriously, is it just me? or does ta**us season fly by so quickly for everyone else too? 😱♉️

every single weekend had something going on, and I’ve been really immersed in the present moment.

however, this upcoming weekend has nothing really planned. whether something comes up or not, I know that the theme of the weekend will be taking time to slow TF down and to honor my physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies’ needs.

I believe that in this modern world, our attention is our most valuable currency:

🪙spending time with loved ones
🪙working 9-5 or owning a business
🪙holding side jobs and/or hobbies
🪙making plans and attending events
🪙tending to text messages and phone calls (on different platforms)
🪙listening to podcasts and audiobooks🪙scrolling on social media
🪙driving, running, scrambling from one thing to the next (talk about context switching 🥵)

…all of the above and more requires your ATTENTION. and that is a lot of your physical, mental, and emotional energy on a daily basis. At some the point, it can become overwhelming.

I also believe that if you’re pouring your attention into people, spaces, and places that aren’t serving you in return, that’ll ultimately lead to burnout.

When burnout happens, it’s important to slow down, take time for yourself, and turn your attention inward:

🔆 what is your body asking of you?
🔆 have you taken time to take a moment to breathe?
🔆 what are you experiencing mentally and emotionally?
🔆 are there any subtle messages your body, mind, emotions, and breath hold for you?
🔆 what is one thing that you can do that will serve your inner self? alternatively, what is one thing that you can let go of that will serve you for the highest good?

feel free to drop a heart if this resonates with you 💛 whatever your personal takeaway I hope this message inspires you, with love, to

letting go 💫

it’s been 359 days since I’ve turned 26. and I can honestly say it’s been quite a journey.

as I approach my anniversary around the sun in a few days, I realize that the goals that I set for myself didn’t all manifest into reality.

This was the year that I struggled with severe burnout and setting boundaries.

🟡 I said yes to more things that I should’ve said no to
🟡 I stayed in places for far too long when I should’ve left earlier.
🟡 I let my fear get in the way of reaching for what my heart truly wanted

nonetheless, I hold compassion and gratitude for all that I’ve gone through and experienced, both positive and challenging:

🌕 severe burnout
🌖 anxiety & overthinking
🌗 healing from the above and old wounds
🌘 letting go of people & places that no longer provide an equal energetic exchange
🌑 inviting in new friends, new experiences, and what is meant for me

Letting go has been the hardest to do. But I’ve learned that when you surrender and trust the process, even better opportunities come into the picture.

When one door closes, another one always opens.

As I turn another year older, I am setting an intention to always trust the guidance from my inner self and from the Universe ✨

When the inner self / Universe signals it’s time to surrender to the flow, trust that it’s okay to

l e t g o 💛 (even if it’s 10% at a time)

If you’ve made it this far, I love and appreciate you, and I hope that this inspires you to let go of what is holding you back 🫶🏽
