With the water lapping at my feet, I sit on the jetty overlooking the lake, my fingers tracing the wood grain while the warm breeze plays through my hair.

Like a bird taking flight, this not yet lived scene - alongside others - have fluttered about my mind in recent months; delicious meals I’ll eat, warm hugs I’ll sink into and a joyful reflection of thanks to myself for what I know I’ll accomplish.

Historically, in stark contrast, my experience of looking toward the future was filled with fearful projections, pitiful loneliness and one failure after another.

While most unprecedented, this shift in mental headspace has been most welcome. I truly never knew it existed. I’d never heard of it happening, or more over, understood in this way.

Having made such progress in my growth over the years, there were markers I could claim, but also assumed much would stay as is.

There was an understanding, at the time, that my lot was fixed to a point, and those projections would be the ones I would navigate.

But to comprehend what this change would mean would have been almost impossible beforehand.

You don’t know what you don’t know, and I’ve never known this before. It’s not a big push, it’s not “if I try with all my might”, it’s effortless, natural and enjoyable.

As when rereading your favourite book, you collect alternative pockets of the familiar story, our understandings of the same concepts and words take on new meaning as we grow.

There is no way to show this world inside my head, and how the sun feels like it’s rising in so many ways. But I will continue to do so in whatever way I can.

My hope is that in time, these same words take on new meaning for you. That hope, potential or the future are not words weighted against you, but ones that lift you up.

You are precious, you are capable and you are alive. Take a breath.

Feed your soul, my sweet, and give yourself room to grow 🌱

You know the delicious, delicate sound of relational harmony?

Conversation building like music, one note chosen perfectly after another.

Yet a mismatch in tone, a mood not quite right or an ill tuned instrument - and the composition may be ruined entirely.

Or perhaps the space between you and I, each knowing another place the other doesn’t; the valleys of experience, mountain peaks and rivers wild only passable with map like communication.

With intention as our compass, awareness as our guide and words as our feet, we move to navigate the terrain.

There is always the unseen, the nonverbal and the visceral. But as from each tongue slips best laid verbal plans, some are simply waiting to wander awry.

Heated words can fly from mouths like cars cornering a track, sharp barbs in attempt to wound and projection of all fears casting dark shadows of misunderstanding.

Relationship is in the giving, receiving, allowing, believing and building - a dance - for it to work, it needs space. A theatre, a clearing or simply the time.

All elements require capacity to hold it and space. Just as the air allows melody to float uninterrupted, until she fades or meets an immovable force.

Our means to connect are limited, comparative to the infinite emotional internal world each holds. But, remaining mindful that what is your red may be my blue, as what is sweet is to sour, we discover breathing space all forms of relationship need.

As a practise it must be taught, learned and through patience, earned. To see the mirror we are served, our own filters and, in a single beat, realign.

When we pause to consider our conduction; our words, our tone and intention, we discover breath for both ourselves and another to rest and be heard ♥️

A week and a half ago some news caught up with me that’s cracked me wide open.

At times, since then, I find my eyes blinking a mile a minute, my mind matching pace as my body speeds through memory and feeling.

The push back against natural response, a bid to hold my tears: for what? For who? Why?

As if this brief pause feigns a suspense of reality, perhaps here I can find another where this new truth is not permitted.

This habit turned instinct echos of all the ways I’ve historically tried not to be, to deny myself: to present as something else entirely, or submerge against all carnal will for the illusion, the pretence, of calm waters.

But this time, I won’t, instead I’ll let it; rock me, change me, shape me.

Here the soil is rich, my roots coil into the earth & I am well watered. My heart is whole but contains a raging ocean, one I must steady my ship in.

Taking cues from & listening to my intuition is a skill I’ve honed for years, my ear to the ground for the next call & building faith in each step of obedience.

I’ll be taking some time over the next while to post much less. I want to give back to myself, to look at my world, focus on my clients & what I continue to create. I adore my work, & message, yet there is something brooding, the music is starting & I want an audience with myself.

Sure, “say-it-on-social-media-that-you-won’t-be-on-social-media” can be trite but I’m also present for replies & messages I get here, so I know that my stories especially can be a source of loveliness or comfort - with that I wanted to share.

Long gone are the days I charge onward for the sake of it, I’ve learned my lessons, I heed the signs, & my growth, my self love forbid I look the other way.

I no longer associate self sacrifice with my worthiness, or driving torturous performance productivity for the sake of it.

My one-to-one coaching, Soul Strong, emails etc run as normal, & if you’d like, you can reach me at [email protected].

I am well, I feel strong - so strong in fact, I am listening and taking action on what I need to do.

As always, my encouragement overflows to you, and so I ask; what do you need to do? ✨🌕

Almost every day I have the thought that I’m failing.

Some days it’s fleeting. Others it dismantles all will like a wrecking ball.

The nest lies in the pit of my stomach, crawling spider like up my throat. Stories snaking my neck and coiling deeper inside my mind.

Human beings have over an estimated 6,000 thoughts a day, and you can bet some will be rotters.

Our culture is obsessed with purity, doing and achieving. Earning your value. No wonder attachment to failure drains the life from ideas.

So what if your worth was inherent? Like a mushroom or a flower. Failure would be functional, scientific almost. A life full of experiences, experiments and play.

Who doesn’t love the sound of that?

But they can also be invitations, thin veils covering the door desperate for you to knock on.

Responding to thoughts of failure by chasing, excessive overthinking can tempt the brain into believing this feeling can be tempered down the cerebral rabbit hole, while you lose yourself in the burrows.

It cannot.

Failure will happen.

But, when you emerge from the ruins, blinking into sunlight; your worth, rareness and potential will stay in tact.

What a relief, hey?

Fear is natural, in many cases even helpful. Developing your discernment, strategy for support and practises to process are all incredible skills.

Awareness is where you start. Check out these cute slides for some check ins & learnings when you need it ♥️

Coming in HOT with your Monday reminder to pursue your pleasure, reclaim your body and expand your goddamn mind 🌙

Take up fu***ng space 🪐

From birth our identity is prescribed, prepared for a life of tick box form filling and one dictation after another of what that should mean.

Identity, prior to your own resonance, is inherently oppressive. It fires words right out of your mouth before you know what they even mean.

There’s functionality to this, of course, but as a means to what end? If you’re never then invited beyond that, like a stick in the mud you stay stuck.

Our self exploration is rebellion, learning and educating one another is a force to be reckoned with. Pushing back, asking questions and deliberately treading the line.

Being a good person is not synonymous with being obedient. On the contrary, it seems often the reverse is true.

Krishnamurti once said “It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” and I hold this truth dear.

In fact, I for one become sicker trying to adjust to society, than I do embracing myself beyond it.

We have work to be done, fights to be fought, and the preoccupation with who you should be drain the light of who you are.

Reclaim your space, as a thinker, a feeler, as a valid creature on earth. I believe we belong here, on earth, but I don’t believe this world - as it is - belongs to us.

We can change that, and you have an important role in it.

I’m opening up my women’s group tonight for any who would like some rest and support after an especially heavy last week. I’ll be guiding meditation, journaling and turning fear and vulnerability into power. I would love to have you there ♥️ sticker box in stories for sign up ♥️

As we grow and learn to better understand ourselves within community, we are importantly brought into reality beyond sweet sentiments and picture perfect picket fence living: Mothering Sunday resounds differently for all.

Not everyone’s mums have been that great, nor every one enjoyed the role. Some chose another path, and others ache for what’s been missed.

For some a reminder of motherhood strikes and sears like a branding iron, and for another echos loss or irreparable harm.

There’s adoption and fostering, the step-mothering and the teacher who did a better job than your biological ever did. (Miss Honey where you at? 🍯)

Some families have two mamas and some have none. There’s close, intimate relationships and some that just plod on.

Releasing perfection and definition from the idea of what being a mother should be allows for who a mother truly is: a whole human being.

Something society would rather we forget: mothers are not machines, nor robots. Not stepford wives nor superheroes.

Beneath the weight of expectation, thankless tasks and otherworldly love: whole human beings.

Some loving and kind. Also broken and lost. Complex characters, brilliant minds and brave hearts.

Some exceptional role models, and some still reeling from their own.

All mothers, however one identifies with the role, are valid. And whatever the relationship with yours, is also.

Mothers are human beings, not superheroes, which makes what some do ever more remarkable ♥️

What would a safer world for women look like?

One where a walk home at night can be enjoyed, where drinks aren’t covered all night long or some ponytails aren’t tied with a moment of caution.

As women, including trans-women, we learn to navigate our safety from a young age. A collection of discrete defences, quick calculations and social codes; adaptions woven throughout our every day.

It is a story told ad finem, one we relive in repetition and forewarn in retelling to each generation.

We should not, and cannot burden this alone. Considered change, swift progress and ultimately increased safety will not come without the increased support and robust action from men. The heavy weight of lives lost is felt in our march alone.

The social, economic and political inequalities faced by women and trans-women are deeply ingrained in our historical and present landscape, blended in plain sight that to raise it causes more objection than at the violations themselves.

Men, good men, must take a more willing part and proactive action in this. Learn how to navigate the discomfort that can arise, lean in to their role, to shoulder with us in solidarity and act.

We do not need to continuously compromise our safety by staying silent so that those who are not willing to hear our stories can stay comfortable as they refuse to listen.

A safer world for women is where good men do more. And if all you read in this is blame, then there’s a lot you need to learn.

As your daughters, sisters, friends, partners and mothers, I ask you this: take a look at the world we see. Please join us in making change.

This isn’t “women’s issues”, this is human rights.

Like the untethering of a boat from a port no longer home, loosing friendship and connection with some I held in greater esteem than it seemed they would merit was one of the difficulties I hadn’t expected this last year.

Speaking out more socially, politically and morally online also meant drawing boundaries, having difficult conversations, and of course, mistakes or errors in judgement in how those intentions may be perceived. We’re all always learning, after all.

While in the grand scheme of things, losing those determined to misunderstand and twist your words or who’s values are intent on denying your own is not what one would consider a loss, the reality can feel a world apart when connection has been made on other planes.

As a human being, I hate to be misunderstood, it reminds me of childhood, of judgement and a lack of space to exist in the different shades outside of perfection that each one of us falls within.

Ultimately, it’s a space you don’t feel seen, creating an untimely death for the self.

In those moments, you feel the need to defend yourself against those dedicated to misunderstanding and misrepresenting, instead of shouldering and learning with, I’d love to encourage you to connect to your truth.

Rediscover your goodness. Remember who you fight for. The mission that brings peace to your heart and clarity to your mind.

It’s easy to judge in return, how in dismissal of them you may rediscover your strength once again, but in truth, when you set a boundary, you can release all narrative of them. Instead, acknowledge rather than it being about them, it is about a standard, a practise and a purpose.

Growth requires discomfort, movement, friction. You will feel the displacement in your life. That does not mean it’s wrong.

Stay connected to those who see you, those willing to listen and let the closed minds of those who focus only on their comfort, demand perfection and take no time for constructive conversation to dissolve.

This lesson is a small one to learn, it pales in comparison to the greater cause - but I address it because it’s real.
