💙 As we look back on Mental Health Awareness Month, we're reminded that mental wellness is not just a conversation for May—it's something we should support every day of the year.

At Lucky and Blessed Fishing, we've seen firsthand how fishing, nature, mentorship, friendship, and community can positively impact the lives of youth and individuals with disabilities. Through our Youth Wellness & Mentorship Program, inclusive camps, and community programs, we create opportunities for people to unplug, connect with others, build confidence, and experience a sense of belonging.

Sometimes healing doesn't happen in an office or classroom. Sometimes it happens on a fishing pier, in a kayak, on a hiking trail, or during a meaningful conversation with a mentor or friend.

As May comes to a close, let's continue to check in on one another, encourage open conversations, and create communities where everyone feels valued, supported, and never alone.

Today we're celebrating an incredible milestone— Michael Hoffman's first anniversary as a Staff Angler with Lucky and Blessed Fishing!

Over the past year, Michael has experienced countless fishing adventures, built lasting friendships, traveled to new places, and discovered a level of independence and confidence that continues to inspire everyone around him.

What makes Michael's story so special is that his journey didn't start as a staff member. He first joined LABF as a participant, became a volunteer, and through hard work, dedication, and a passion for helping others, earned the opportunity to become a paid Staff Angler.

Today, Michael helps participants learn to fish, supports community events, mentors others, and serves as a shining example of what is possible when individuals are given opportunities to grow, lead, and succeed.

Michael's journey is exactly why LABF created our Inclusive Workforce Program—to create pathways from participant, to volunteer, to employee, while building confidence, independence, friendships, and meaningful employment opportunities.

Congratulations, Michael, on an amazing first year. We can't wait to see where the next adventure takes you!

Today, we pause to remember and honor the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy every day and reminds us that liberty comes at a great cost.

🐟 NEW GRANT ALERT 🐟

We are incredibly grateful to Walmart Bowie Store #1893 and the Spark Good Local Grants Program for awarding Lucky and Blessed Fishing a $1,000 community grant. 💙

This funding will directly support LABF's Inclusive Workforce Program, helping create meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with different abilities like Michael Hoffman, who serve as Staff Anglers, mentors, and outdoor leaders throughout our programs.

At LABF, we believe inclusion goes beyond participation. It means creating pathways for individuals with disabilities to lead, teach, work, and inspire others. Through this program, Staff Anglers gain valuable job experience, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and help make the outdoors more welcoming for everyone.
