Hair loss/thinning are two frequent problems that people face. The quantity and quality of hair are closely related to the nutritional status of an individual. The most important thing to remember here is that hair loss can be caused by a multitude of factors. To treat it, we must first address the underlying cause. The following are some of the reasons:

1. Nutritional deficiencies: Get your B vitamins (especially B2, B12, folate, biotin), Vitamin A, D, E, iron/ferritin and Zn levels checked.
2. Protein deficiency: Vegans and vegetarians struggle to achieve their protein requirements through their diets. In such circumstances, protein supplements can be used; however, the type, dosage, and handling of protein supplements are all factors to consider. As a result, seek advice from a nutritionist/dietician before using them.
3. Unhealthy diet: A diet high in processed foods (such as sugar🍬, fried foods, and red meat), caffeine☕, and alcohol🍺🍾 can increase inflammation and exacerbate current symptoms. As a result, include anti-inflammatory foods in your diet (e.g., Turmeric, ginger, high EPA fish oils, fruits)
4. Stress and a lack of quality sleep😴
5. Hormonal changes, such as PCOS caused by birth control medications and thyroid issues caused by a T3, T4 imbalance.
6. Age
7. Medications💊 that interfere with nutrition absorption.
8. Poor blood circulation: Massage your scalp with rosemary oil to improve blood circulation.
9. Environmental factors, such as the way we style our hair, hair products we use
10. Hereditary problems.

'Being slim and trim doesn't mean you are healthy'.❌

Anyone with BMI less than 18.5 falls under the category of underweight.

It is a common thinking that being slim is good which leads youth, especially adolescent girls, to starve themselves or practice harmful behaviors only to develop eating disorders, in order to fit in the culture ; in order to look 'healthy'. However, it is high time we get rid of this myth.

Weighing under normal BMI is only a part of being healthy. Health not only includes physical appearance but mental condition as well. Being underweight brings a whole new set of serious health problems including problems with menstrual cycle, nutritional deficiencies, weakened immune system🦠, fragile bones, anemia etc.

However, there are various other reasons why people can't gain weight. Ever heard of people saying "I eat a lot but still cannot gain weight"? Various factors such as family history, high metabolism, frequent increased physical activity, chronic illness prevent them to gain appropriate weight.

So, does this mean underweight individuals can eat all the junk food to gain weight? The answer is no. They need to put on weight gradually and safely while practicing healthy behavioral changes🏋️, having balanced diet and choosing healthier food choices. 🥑🍎🍓

Is drinking fruit and vegetable juices as healthy as eating them? Think about it!
No, it's not. Why?
Because the processed fruit juices contain a heavy load of sugar which gets absorbed rapidly.🧃🍹 Due to this, there is an insulin spike in the bloodstream to get rid out excess sugar.

What happens if this continues? Well, regular rapid insulin spike will cause problems with body's ability to produce insulin.

Now you must be thinking, what about vegetable juices? 🥒🥕🥦Are they healthy?
Vegetable juices do not contain as much heavy load of sugar as fruit juices, however, drinking vegetables won't curb appetite and you'll be hungry again in no time!

So, eat your fruits and vegetables instead of drinking them😉
