Hair loss/thinning are two frequent problems that people face. The quantity and quality of hair are closely related to the nutritional status of an individual. The most important thing to remember here is that hair loss can be caused by a multitude of factors. To treat it, we must first address the underlying cause. The following are some of the reasons:
1. Nutritional deficiencies: Get your B vitamins (especially B2, B12, folate, biotin), Vitamin A, D, E, iron/ferritin and Zn levels checked.
2. Protein deficiency: Vegans and vegetarians struggle to achieve their protein requirements through their diets. In such circumstances, protein supplements can be used; however, the type, dosage, and handling of protein supplements are all factors to consider. As a result, seek advice from a nutritionist/dietician before using them.
3. Unhealthy diet: A diet high in processed foods (such as sugar🍬, fried foods, and red meat), caffeine☕, and alcohol🍺🍾 can increase inflammation and exacerbate current symptoms. As a result, include anti-inflammatory foods in your diet (e.g., Turmeric, ginger, high EPA fish oils, fruits)
4. Stress and a lack of quality sleep😴
5. Hormonal changes, such as PCOS caused by birth control medications and thyroid issues caused by a T3, T4 imbalance.
6. Age
7. Medications💊 that interfere with nutrition absorption.
8. Poor blood circulation: Massage your scalp with rosemary oil to improve blood circulation.
9. Environmental factors, such as the way we style our hair, hair products we use
10. Hereditary problems.
