Do you ever beat yourself up for being anything other than happy because from the outside, it looks like you "should" be happy?

Don't get me wrong, I am all about good vibes... it's the "only" that gets me.
It may seem like a cute and harmless quote but what it does is actually create an unrealistic expectation that we "should" be happy. It paints the picture that if we aren't positive, we won't be accepted or wanted.

"I should be more productive." "You shouldn't be so sensitive." "We should be happier."
"The shoulds" control our mindsets but the majority of us have no idea. Language is crucial to mental wellness so paying attention to how we talk to ourselves and what expectations we set for ourselves is key.

How many times do you compare yourself to someone else?
FAR TOO MANY TIMES. The toxicity of comparisons impacts us all, especially with the filtered version of life we see posted all over social media. We also battle with thoughts of where we "should" be at this point in our lives...
Instead of spending our time comparing ourselves to others, let's try to put that energy into working towards self acceptance and validation. Learn more about mental health and wellness with our monthly newsletter. https://www.panickits.com/panic-peptalk-newsletter
