It's okay to pause.

This week I needed some wise words to get me through, and my beautiful mum didn't disappoint. Plans change, priorities change, goals change, and that's OKAY!

Shift gears, readjust, and power on.

Today I am proud of myself.

I had so many good things happen today that were a direct result of my resilience and hard work.

Wow it feels strange to think that, let alone put it out there to the universe. We need to do it more because damn it feels GOOD. 💃

I am proud of myself for kick starting the plan to reduce my pain medication and smashing it out of the park over the past two weeks. I couldn't not share the details with you all in my stories today 🥰🥰

So now it's your turn - tell me something that you are proud of yourself for ⬇️⬇️

You might need to change your working hours.

Sleep a little longer.

Take a break every 10 minutes.

Park as close as possible to the exit of the shopping centre.

Take deep breaths of Peppermint to break through the brain fog.

Have a rest day... every second day.

Schedule your time around your flare ups.

Setting new parameters and creating a new plan to move forward is so incredibly important. It may seem all out of reach, but it's better to move forward at a snail's pace than to slowly drift backwards.

You've got this, WE'VE got this! 💪

~ Your best friend tonight ~

This will be your best friend tonight... and probably longer.

We all know pets can get startled and scared of fireworks. I've got an easy and simple solution to help your pet stay calm and relaxed, and keep you sane.

Calming Spray
🐾 10 drops Lavender
🐾 10 drops Balance
🐾 10 drops Lavender Peace
🐾 Dash of Witch Hazel
🐾 topped with cool boiled water in a minimum 280ml spray bottle (I use the $2 Kmart bottles)

Adjust the dilution to suit your pet if required and follow safety guidelines, you can find this info in my previous posts.

Spray this calming spray on bedding, creates, collar, harness, toys, and in general areas in the room, etc, in the lead up to fireworks.

You can use this in conjunction with calming rollers and diffusing your oils.

Hope you have a happy and stress free New Year 🎉

~ Flying starts from the ground. The more grounded you are, the higher you fly.” – J.R. Rim~

Do yourself a favour and create a grounding box. A box with a whole bunch of goodies that you turn to for a few minutes of self reflection, gratitude, and grounding. My sister and I started making our boxes at the beginning of this year and I can't seem to leave Kmart without a new self-help book - hence the excessive (and heavy) collection.

What's in my box:
🌿 a few essential oils and roller blends
🌿 drawing pad and pens
🌿 mindful activities and colouring in books
🌿 gratitude journal
🌿 365 days of creativity and 365 days of art in nature books
🌿 other self-help books and tools

It doesn't need to be a lot, it can be one book, a journal or a drawing pad. Take 5 minutes for yourself, grab a glass of water and write down your gratitudes, journal entry, or draw something that caught your eye today. Simple and easy.

What is your favourite grounding activity? If you are up for a challenge, use emoji's to describe it.

~ sometimes the "little things" aren't so little at all ~

If you've been following along with my stories you'll have noticed that I am STRUGGLING at the moment. I haven't had enough spoons to do the typical self-care acts, so lately my self-care has been;
🌿 getting out of bed (sometimes to just get right back into it 😅)
🌿 opening the curtains
🌿 choosing essential oil blends for my diffusers to support me throughout the day & night
🌿 using my essential oil rollers throughout the day
🌿 drinking infused Tangerine EO water

I've learnt that self-care acts don't need to be time consuming or arduous, even the smallest act that helps our mental and physical health goes a very long way.
These acts aren't 'less than' other arduous self-care acts, they allow my body the time it needs to REST and HEAL, and provides time (and spoons) to have FUN doing the things I CAN do.

If all I can do is pop my diffuser on before I collapse on the couch, at least I've achieved two self-care act for the day. 👏

So tell me one small self-care act that you are going to do today ⬇️ @ Queensland, Australia

~ in my happy place ~

Spending time with Sally & Charlie the past two weeks have been an absolutely wonderful. Sally has been my best friend since I was a kid and I've missed her like crazy these past few years and even more so now that she lives further away.

Hanging out with my animals is my happy place. 💕💕

What is your happy place?

~ but not the spoons you are thinking of ~

Have you heard of the spoons theory? No? Well keep reading.

The 'spoons theory' is a metaphor that is used to describe the amount of mental or physical energy a person has available for daily activities and tasks.

The theory was created by Christine Miserandino to help describe how living with a chronic illness felt like. It has now been accepted world wide as a tool to describe what life is really like living with an invisible disability.

Living with chronic illness and/or pain limits the amount of energy to complete tasks, so the tasks that might seem insignificant to some take lots of effort for others.

If you have 10 spoons in the morning to spend throughout the day, how are you going to spend them?

Getting out of bed - 1/2 a spoon
Getting ready for work - 1 spoon
Making breakfast - 1/2 a spoon
Travelling to work - 1/2 a spoon
Day job - 6 spoons
Travelling home - 1/2 a spoon
Changing clothes - 1/2 a spoon
Feeding animals - 1/2 a spoon
..so... where's your spoons to cook dinner? Tidy the house? Do the washing? Have a shower? Take the dog to the park? Go out to dinner with friends?

What do you do if you run out of spoons? Rest can replenish spoons but this isn't always an option. You can 'borrow' spoons from tomorrow, however, this means you may only have 5 spoons for tomorrow which results in a day spent in bed or on the couch.

Had you heard of the 'spoons theory' before? Give me a 👍if you have or a ❤ if you hadn't.

It's such a great tool for those struggling to explain their reality.

~ How do we use them? ~

You can use essential oils to help your pets with anxiety, grief, sore joints and muscles, scratches / cuts / burns, aggression, allergies, eating disorders, arthritis, cancer, cognitive disorders, digestion issues, dental issues, diabetes, skin sensitivities, behavioural training, and lots more.

I mainly use oils to support my pets emotionally but I am so glad I have these tools in case they ever do get sick or injured.

"Disappoint anyone, hell disappoint everyone, but don't ever disappoint yourself" - B.Severide

Do what's best for YOU.
Do things that make YOU happy.
YOU are the priority.

This is the reminder I needed today. If you read this, I hope you take this as a reminder to stop, take a deep breath, and make yourself the priority. You've got this.
