Fall equinox in Ireland ☘️
I’ve recently moved to a city in Ireland. The past few weeks have been fun of city life and navigating the differences of life in another country so am grateful for a bit of balance in nature on fall equinox of all days.
Orders will be closed indefinitely but Otherworld Wellness will remain a passion project and orders will likely reopen again. In the meantime I’m enjoying learning the different medicinal plants the Emerald Isle has to offer and will share my favorites here 💚

A magical creature from my native woods — GHOSTPIPE

Not quite a plant, not quite a fungus, Ghostpipe is a species all on its own that grows in a very specific environment across the US. While it’s not extremely rare, it’s not prolific either and as always less is more when harvesting. (As you may notice I took less than 1/4 of what I found despite coming across one of the largest patches I’ve ever seen- you don’t need much) When the roots are harvested it can not grow back and no one has yet figured out how to cultivate Ghostpipe, which I kind of respect about it.

There is not a ton of literature on its medicinal use, like some other unique creatures, so should be approached with awareness like all new internal medicines, but has historical uses for pain, and has been cited as useful for phantom limb symptoms. Some say it can be helpful regulating a bad psychoactive trip as well. Stay tuned for early fall when this will be featured in a new tincture blend.

Found some reprieve in the big apple at the beautiful Highline and spotted a number of medicinal plants but wanted to share one I’ve been working with more lately —

YARROW

Yarrow is called the thousand leaf plant and is said to have a thousand uses! It’s Latin species name is Achillea (this one is Achillea filipendulina, a native of Asia) though millefolium is more widely used medicinally and grows all over the US, inna variety of different colors.

The name Achillea comes from the Greek god Achilles, some myths say Achilles made this plant from the metal shards of his sword and used it to heal his warriors.

There are hundreds of historical, spiritual and medicinal uses of yarrow all over the world, and is often used in wound care as well as for various internal sicknesses to this day.

It’s been awhile, Happy Spring!

Spring is a time of change and I’m happy to say the shop has moved down to the land of bluebonnets, Texas!

Setting up the shop in a new state has taken time. Thank you to those who have reached out about products and consultations, I appreciate your patience and support

🦋Online orders will reopen May 1 with limited seasonal offerings and a small sale to make way for new inventory🦋

👋🤠🎅Happy holidays everyone - it’s been awhile and I’ve got some news to share with all of you

The shop will be closed this holiday season as I make space for rejuvenation and some exciting opportunities in other areas of my life. This is not the end of Otherworld Wellness by any means but it does mean that shop orders will be closed for the rest of 2022.

🎃Don’t forget to drink lots of water as dehydration is common in fall/winter and get your skin suit (yes, I said skin suit) into the sunshine whenever you can! vitamin (D) deficiency is common during these seasons as we experience fewer hours of daylight and it can really start to mess with your sleep cycle, mental function and overall mood. Small shifts suited each season can keep you thriving rather than just surviving each season!
