LOVE!

Did you know that love’s reaction inside the brain models our basic needs for well-being?

In Ancient Greece, the feeling of love was so hard to define that philosophers broke it down into four categories to try and characterize it.

Those four categories were storge, phila, eros and agape.

•Storge was usually defined as the love between family members like siblings and parents

•Phila was defined as the love between best friends

•Eros was more of your classic romantic love

•Agape was known as divine love

On our life journey we experience theses different types of love, all supporting and leading to:
•acceptance of self and others
•forgiveness
•self growth
•creativity
•resilience
•happiness
•lower risk for depression/anxiety
•reduced pain levels
•overall sense of well being

So . . . . Get your love on! Love without abandonment and accept love from outside of yourself with open arms and gratitude!

The journey of diving deep into my heart chakra as part of my inner child work is intense. Finding my mat, leaning into my breath, and holding poses where my body folds into and supports myself has been soothing in mind|body|soul.

I’m reminded of this quote:

I’ve been picking myself up and striving to achieve, even in the face of adversity as an athlete. Two weeks ago, coming back from my best showing yet on a national stage as an Olympic weightlifter, I had to make a tough decision to change coaches.

I’m adjusting to a new team and processing a lot of unease. I’m accepting that I’m scared, confused, overwhelmed, and that my anxiety is hella high. I’m aware my internal experiences are clouding how I show to my new coach which is worrisome! It’s all weighing heavily on my mind, body, and soul. I know this is part of my journey and self growth but I’m exhausted!

I’m reminded of my selfhood and determination by the following poem:

Does my sassiness upset you?

As I maneuver change and embrace being uncomfortable and unknowing as an athlete, I lean into my spiritual mindfulness practices.

There’s nothing meditation, prayer, and yoga won’t center and balance when we are open to going inward and accept the truths of our journey.

I remind myself:

Finding balance between our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies is often overwhelming but worth it! It’s easy to get caught up in thinking balance feels and looks what could be seen as grandiose but it’s not! Forget what the posts and society says!

Your self growth journey doesn’t have to have bells and whistles or be perfectly executed, it’s very much the opposite. It’s messy, uncomfortable, rewarding, and beautiful all at once!

The word gratitude is often used as a directive or order without acknowledging the true power and value in being authentically filled with gratitude. Gratitude is personal power that when joined with others gratitude becomes a positive force that can’t be reckoned with.

Consider this:

Try this gratitude practice for a month, I promise you’ll feel the positive shift:

Every morning find a comfortable seat, take 3 deep cleansing breaths of your choice, name (in your mind, journal, or out loud) three things you are grateful for. Repeat at night before bed.

I invite and challenge you to do this gratitude practice for a month. I know your mind, body, and soul will thank you!

As a healer, human, and spiritual mindfulness coach I’ve found that we are often challenged to embrace ourselves authentically. It’s as if humans wear a veil of fear that clouds our ability to step into our personal journeys with awe, open heart and mind.

The truth is, the more you are connected to every cell of your physical being, vibration of your soul, waves of your mindset, and connect to heaven and earth you experience your authentic journey. When we embrace ourselves authentically our journeys become that more rich and rewarding.

I invite you to ponder a quote I share with my mindfulness clients:

My soul is feeling unbalanced and my emotions are triggering a need to withdraw from interactions and emotionally armor up, so I step back and observe myself in all levels.

Gratefully due to my daily spiritual mindfulness practice I’m able to identify without judgement where I’m at and work towards an understanding. Way easier said than done!

This is how I’m working towards acceptance and balance:
1. Meditation w/journaling
2. R.A.I.N (recognize, allow, investigate,
nurture)
3. Body Scan (run rainbow colors for
chakras)
4. Yoga
5. Breathwork, mantras
6. EFT tapping during the day
7. Not scrolling social media
8. Being true to what I need right now
9. Prayer
10. Dance and laughing

We NEED to be our own hype!

I’ve become ever so aware that I struggle to be comfortable with hyping myself up or calling attention to my jam. The drive for me to share is to build commonality and community but I feel beyond uncomfortable in my skin when I shine the light on myself.

I know it’s rooted in personal experiences, fear of not being enough, wanting to not take space but hold it, and a desire to be accepted and valued. I know it starts within and our self love must exist but it can be so uncomfortable when I just want to uplift others, let everyone know they are seen, and rise our societal consciousness.

So I lean into my mindful spiritual practice and untwine the roots that hold me back and I f**k with my own shine!
