Hi! I hope this information helps you to better understand the Nutritional Facts Label. ☺️

Some additional points:
•Saturated fat, sodium and added sugars are identified as “nutrients to get less of”.

•Dietary fiber, vitamin D, calcium, iron and potassium are nutrients on the label that we generally do not get the recommended amount of. They are identified as “nutrients to get more of”.

•Use %DV to compare food products (make sure the serving size is the same), and choose the product higher in nutrients you want to get more and lower in nutrients you want to get less of.

•You can use the %DV to help you make trade-offs with other foods throughout the day.

Sometimes the smallest/easiest things are the ones we forget about, so here are some tips to help you remember. 👇🏼

1.- Shop the perimeter of grocery stores (fruits and vegetables, meats, dairies, breads). *Processed foods as well as high in sugar and high in sodium foods are usually found in the middle aisles. 🛒🍓🥦🧀🥖🥛

2.- Your plate should be balanced, with easy to identify protein, carbohydrates and fat sources. 🥘

3.- When you read the nutrition facts label of a product, you should be able to pronounce and identify all the ingredients. 🔍🧾

4.- Your protein sources should vary daily between beef, fish and poultry.🥩🍗🐟

5.- Drink water instead of fruit juice, sodas or energy drinks.🧊

Looking for a quick, healthy and tasty breakfast? Try this one out! 😋

In a bowl mix
- 1 banana
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Microwave for 2 minutes and add toppings. I added chocolate chips, more cinnamon and maple syrup! 😮‍💨

Recuerden que el desayuno es la comida más importante del día, ya que rompe el periodo de ayuno de la noche y nos ayuda a tener un mejor rendimiento.

Les comparto esta opción de un desayuno completo, solo se necesitan los siguientes ingredientes:

🍞 | 2 rebanadas de pan integral tostado
🥑 | 1/3 aguacate
🥚 | 1 huevo cocido
🍅 | 4 rebanadas de tomate
🧂 | Sal y pimienta al gusto
🍏 | 1 fruta de su preferencia

Es muy rápido y muy fácil de hacer!

Remember breakfast is the most important meal of the day, as it breaks the fasting period of the night and it helps to have a better performance during the day.

I’ll leave this option of a complete and healthy breakfast, you only need the following ingredients:

🥑 | 1/3 avocado
🥚 | 1 boiled egg
🍅 | Tomato
🧂 | Salt and pepper
🍏 | 1 fruit
