A few moments from the pop-up relaxation room for , RefugeeConnect, an organization that serves the refugee community, with 80% of their staff being refugees themselves. With the BS going on in the White House and the uncertainty surrounding immigration, of course many refugees are facing heightened fear and anxiety.
There’s no breathing exercise or meditation I could lead that would make that weight disappear. But I did want to prepare a space that felt really special, tailored, and that allowed them to just rest - no masking, no assimilation needed - a space for emotional refuge.
✨I incorporated affirmations in their native languages for their DIY affirmation cards.
✨The zero-gravity chairs and weighted blankets provided a restful spot for naps.
✨I set up the DIY relaxation oil bar where they could create their own grounding oils (a reminder to pause and breathe when things get heavy),
✨watercolor mandalas.

It just feels so good to be back. 😌I needed some time after the wedding to rest, recoup, and settle in- But I missed this work so so much.
I'm grateful to Cincinnati Art Museum for inviting Lilac & Indigo to collaborate on designing a 4-session restoration retreat for hospice care staff from all across the city. It has been powerful to see them ease into being cared for, sharing their stories, and processing and releasing together.
