Living Younger Longer with Monica My passion is partnering with people who want to feel better tomorrow than they feel today and have I started out just wanting to get healthy. How about you?
(1)

Through Shaklee products I found that I felt better, had more energy and didn't get sick anymore. I also found a company with a philosophy that fit my values - stay healthy - help others stay healthy - and be rewarded for teaching others to do the same. This collaborative approach is a better fit for me than the corporate world.

My Smoothie Queen Vibe is in full throttle this week. My new crown sent to me by a friend unleashed energy for new recipes! This one even exceeded my expectations.
A big batch of roasted squash was the inspiration and I was wondering… “what new squash recipe can I come up with?” All of a sudden it hit me that I should try adding some of my favorite spices that I use to season squash. And add just enough banana for body and sweetness, but not so much that it overpowers the flavors.

Spicy Squash Smoothie
2 scoops Vanilla Life Shake*
1/2 banana
1/3 cup cooked winter squash
1 cup milk of choice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
Dash of cardamom, cumin, turmeric
Pinch of salt
*I’m going to try chocolate as a variation!

For all my Life Shake fans let me know if you try this one. And for those still watching and wondering… “What’s so special about Life Shake” I want to reassure you that you won’t be disappointed by all it has to deliver as far as nutrition and of course taste! But just in case your taste buds give a different verdict I’ll have a refund coming your way right away! 😘

We went to visit my in-laws yesterday for an early birthday celebration for my husband. The menu was a Thanksgiving theme. At the last minute I decided to make roasted veggies because it was the easiest thing to put together.

I was wondering if any of the guys would eat my dish or stick with the turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing. I actually got compliments from some of the men, so I decided my latest favorite marinade was worthy of sharing with you too!

Olive Oil
Cumin
Paprika
Cinnamon
Salt
Drizzle of Maple Syrup (optional)

Simple and Simply delicious. I roasted the veggies (sweet potato, beets, cauliflower in separate pans to accommodate different roasting times and added the pecans with the cauliflower.

Mix marinade and then pour over veggies and stir
Spread out on roasting pan and roast for 20-30 minutes at 400.

Leftovers are great to eat cold, add to a salad or reheat. Enjoy!

What’s your favorite veggie to roast?

Yesterday’s smoothie was so good I made it again today with a few modifications. It lifted it from a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ to a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ keeper recipe.

Added a tbsp of almond butter and a tsp of balsamic vinegar with added drizzle for the garnish.

Sometimes for a moment I feel guilty when I realize my breakfast tastes more like dessert. Then I remember that it’s packed with 20+ g of protein, loads of vitamins and minerals, is fiber rich and low glycemic. No wonder I feel so good after drinking it.

How do you start your day?

I’m not very good at the whole meal planning, meal prep thing. I’m much more of a what do I have on hand and what can I make with it kind of a cook. I would call myself an intuitive cook.

Today was purple kale day! First in my smoothie and then it was the inspiration for my dinner.

While I was making my dinner I started thinking about how much my diet has evolved over the last 10 years. I’m not ready to give up meat and seafood, but this vegan meal was so yummy and satisfying. I’ve been striving to find the balance of keeping my husband happy, but also creating meals that fit my health and dietary goals. We’re a work in progress. One night this week we had frozen pizza!

While I was eating my dinner I was thinking, “wow this is really good”. Feeling blessed that I can put together an impromptu, intuitive meal like this without looking for a recipe!

👉🏼Do you tend to cook from a recipe?
from memory of dishes you have made in the past🧠
Or wing it and see how it turns out? 😘

I’ve been making Protein Snack Bites for years, but this batch is definitely on the top 3 flavor combos. Even my finicky husband gave me a thumbs up and went back for seconds!

Salted Caramel Protein Bites
* 4 Scoops Salted Caramel Life Shake
* 1/2 cup Almond Butter
* 1/4 cup Maple Syrup or Honey or a combination
* 1 cup rolled oats
* 1/4 cup ground flax seed
* 1/3 cup chopped dates
* 1/4 cup shredded coconut (plus more for topping)
* 1/3 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (plus more for topping)
* 2 tbsp sesame seeds (plus more for topping)
Mix Life Shake, Almond Butter, Maple Syrup, oats, dates and flax seed in food processor until mixed well. Add shredded coconut, nuts and sesame seeds and pulse until blended.

Dough should be wet enough to stick together without being too mushy. If dry add a little bit of water 1 tbsp at a time. If to wet add additional oats or flax seed. Roll into 1 inch balls and then roll in toppings. Store in fridge for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.

Who’s ready to bring this delicious recipe into their kitchen? I have a special offer for 35% off retail price for new customers on Salted Caramel or any Shaklee products through Thursday. 🎃

It was another clear, but slightly chilly fall day. I had a desire to get outdoors and particularly to get out to the “the east bluff” at Devil’s Lake State Park. I contemplated my long list of Saturday chores and follow up tasks from my business and wondered if I should stay home and check off some items on the list or set out to see the sights, experience the beauty or fall and move my body.

The call of the outdoors won out and I am grateful that I answered the call. It was a mix of hiking, jogging and running due to the rough terrain, but also because the fall colors tourists were out and about. And I kept stopping to take photos. I parked in the out of the way parking lot and hiked/jogged a less traveled path which brought me solitude in contrast to the flurry of activity once I was on the bluff trail. The orienteering group was out, the rock climbing groups were abundant. The first time to the park hikers were staring at the maps and wondering which way to go and asking questions. It was all good.

It might be slightly past peak color, but there was beauty all around. Feeling grateful and blessed and ready for a Saturday afternoon nap with my husband. The TO DO list can wait. 😘🍂

It's the challenges in life that make us stronger. And when we share our stories with others we can leverage our hardships to help others.

I'm looking forward to our Women to Women Wellness event this Friday. I'll be sharing a talk on Breaking through Fear and excerpts from my debut as a published author in the anthology You Can You Will.

Women will have an option to share their stories of overcoming difficulties in life, but that is optional.

RSVP to me if you would like to join us. And I'll also post the link to the FB group in the comments.

Cooperation rather than competition was one of those things I didn’t count on when I left the corporate world over 20 years ago and started on my entrepreneurial journey.

At first I thought other ambassadors with the company I joined ranks with were my competitors. Then I started meeting them and found that they were good hearted people that wanted to share their experience, expertise and energy with me whether or not there wasn’t any monetary gain for them!

And the first time I heard the term the “Shaklee family” I thought it was a bit hokey, but over the years I have grown to embrace this group of like-minded entrepreneurs as my close friends and fellow travelers. You see this mission of making the world a healthier and better place is a journey we are on together. By joining forces we have a bigger impact.

I’m honored to be hosting an online chat with two of my dear friends tomorrow evening. Sandy I have known for many years and we have traveled many trails together including or expedition in the Grand Canyon last year. She is a perfect example of the generational aspect of this great company raising her kids and grandkids to be healthy and mentoring them in growing their own businesses.

Stacey is a relative newcomer, joining ranks with us a few years ago after leaving another company. She fell in love with the products (life changing), the community, and the leadership and has gone after all that we have to offer with energy and enthusiasm. She just finished a tour of Canada with our CEO Roger Barnett and I am honored to have her as my guest speaker.

We are the perfect combination right now of STABILITY (68 years of doing the right thing for our customers and ambassadors has paid off) and SIZZLE (new products, new compensation plan, new expansion! (Launching Australia in November)!

Curious to hear more? I would love to have you as a guest. Comment GUEST or send me a DM and I’ll send the link to join our online chat Monday at 7:30 CST. 😘

20/10/2024

When I started running in my late 40’s I could not run a mile. I began running because I had been diagnosed with osteopenia and I knew it was good for my bones.

I had no idea running would become such an important part of my future health journey. Not just my physical health, but also my mental health.

I love to run because I can track my results and challenge myself to keep improving. As I grow older I’ve had to adjust my expectations while still setting new goals.

Today’s challenge was to see if I could run faster in a 10K race than I ran 7 years ago in my first 10K race. 🏃‍♀️Mission accomplished. I ran 1:21 faster than I did in 2017 in the same race. Although I am older, all the miles logged, the races, and the training helped me reach my goal.

I run for my health, and for all the life lessons I learn about persistence, but also to inspire others that our age does not have to define us. We can take steps each day to become a healthier, better version of ourselves. One day, one mile, one race at a time. 😘

This morning, I’m focusing on the things I can control and letting go of the things I can’t control like the fact that my Internet is out this morning.

Tomorrow is the day I’m gonna attempt to run faster in a 10k race that I first ran in 2017! It was my first ever 10K race and although I’m seven years older, I have so much more running experience than I did back then.

I’m focusing on my five S’s for success strategy. I’ve decided on oatmeal for my breakfast today and race day. I’ll choose the rest of my sustenance for today carefully.

I’m giving myself a 75% chance of reaching my goal, but the important thing in the end is to not get injured and have fun ! 😘😄

I’m counting on all of you to be sending me positive vibes and virtually cheering me on. 🙏🏃‍♀️

Sometimes my spur of the moment urges to combine ingredients when I’m hungry turn out to be inspired! This is my new favorite fall dip. On top of tasting great it is high in protein, fiber, nutrients and low sugar. It’s going with me to any fall 🍂gathering and I predict it will be a hit with young and not so young and men and women!

For super simple version combine the first three ingredients and I’m pretty darn sure you’ll be happy!😃For a more complex flavor add the rest of the ingredients. You may need to add a little water (or even a little coffee!) to get the consistency you desire.

Salted Caramel Yogurt Dip
1 cup cooked buttercup squash
1/2 cup Greek yogurt
2 scoops Salted Caramel Life Shake
Optional
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1-2 tsp honey or maple syrup
1/2 tsp chopped ginger
Dash of salt
1-2 tbs water, coffee or milk of choice if needed for desired consistency
Blend in blender or food processor.
Serve room temp or chilled with 🍎apples, 🥕carrots, celery, cauliflower, crackers or spread it on a slice of toast.

Is your mouth watering? Comment CARAMEL for my best offer on the Salted Caramel Life Shake. Don’t delay. No predicting how long this seasonal flavor will be in stock.

And on top of treating your taste buds and your body you’ll be doing a good deed too. $5 for each sale of Salted Caramel Life Shake will be donated to Baby2Baby! 😃😘
