I choose to love myself today.

Not who I was yesterday, not who I will be tomorrow..but who I am right now in this present moment.

I sit still with myself today and smile.

Grateful for each breath that fills my lungs, for this beautiful body that always shows up for me even when I do not.

I remind myself that each day is precious, a true gift.

To live in the moment today brings, tomorrow will not be the same.

That I am ever-evolving, blossoming into a fuller version of me.

I choose to love myself today.

SUMMER SNACK TIME!! 🥑🥑🥑

it’s no surprise here..this CA gal is obsessed with GUAC. but like who wouldn’t be! so many good good things all mashed together & oh so delicious!
did you know that avocados contain more potassium than a banana!! pretty rad right? I would like to think I have perfected my oh so simple guacamole recipe over the years. give it a try and let me know what you think!!

how to make it:

✨grab 2-3 ripe avocados

✨chop chop onion into lil pieces

✨dice tomatoes (I used cherry tomatoes)

✨juice from 1-2 limes

✨dice up half a jalapeño + seeds to your liking (more seeds = more spicy 💃🏼)

✨salt + pepper to taste

✨MASH IT UP & ENJOY BAYBEE

Eating seasonally is IT you guys!! 🍓

It’s been proven that our bodies actually align with our #1 gal Mother Nature and best benefit from the produce that is currently in season.

No seriously, there are studies on this!!
Like how the vitamin C content in broccoli is much higher during the fall (when it’s in season), and that is usually when our sweet sweet bodies need vitamin C most! Same goes for stone fruit in the summer which is rich in beta-carotenes which help protect us from sun damage!

Eating seasonally is also better for the environment & believe it or not, easier on the wallet! Produce that is in season is in abundance and typically can be found locally!! Which means it’s going to be cheaper AND they don’t need to ship it in from god knows where! Yippee!

YOU GUYS!! I made a really heckin good kale salad!!

here’s what you need:
•kale (duh)
•red quinoa (or any quinoa)
•chickpeas
•chicken breast
•cherry tomatoes
•a lil parmesan if you’re into it

Here’s how to make it:
✨massage kale with a little bit of that good good EVOO + juice from half a lemon + pinch of sea salt..let her rest, she needs to mellow out.

✨make quinoa per usual (one part quinoa / two parts water, boil + let simmer til water is gone..I did 1/4 cup quinoa)

✨cook up protein of choice! I did a chicken breast seasoned with salt + pepper, chili flakes, a little bit of that 21 seasoning salute from TJs.

✨chickpeas + a lil EVOO + dash of cayenne..in the air fryer til crispy! ~a great crouton substitute when you want something crunchy that’s more healthful than bread~

✨cherry tomates!! we love em.

✨throw it all together, top with a little fresh parm + another lil squeeze of lemon + dash of pepper

Not so hot, hot take Friday!!

CARBOHYDRATES ARE HECKIN RAD. ❤️

Over the years d*et culture has made us believe that we should avoid ALL carbs at ALL costs...to that I say NOPE 👏🏼

Despite what d*et culture wants you to think, carbs are v important. They are one of the main fuel sources for your body!

Your brain needs them!! Your heart muscles need them!!

Need I say more? Tbh no..but I will. Buckle up.

Carbohydrates break down into glucose, your body then uses that glucose for energy. (fun fact..your brain exclusively uses glucose as it’s energy source! feed your mind y’all!!)
You can find carbohydrates in sugar, starches, and my fav FIBER.

Listen up, not all carbs are created equally. I’m talking simple vs complex here. We need to fuel up with those good good carbs. They kind create sustainable energy, not simple sugars that are gonna cause a spike and then crash in energy.

So I’m sure we have all seen that ~viral~ recipe video for tomato + feta pasta by now. Pasta and a block of cheese, of course it’s going to be bomb..no surprises there!! BUT I will say that I am loving all this time in the spotlight tomatoes are getting!! I feel like they get a bad rep sometimes, kids usually hate them..some adults too. But this little fruit (yes, tomatoes are a fruit) has some incredible health benefits. The first being that they are PACKED with antioxidants!! In addition to our fav free radical fighters, these little dudes are full of vitamin C & K, and folate! As a gal who has cancer run in her fam, I love and antioxidant rich diet and adding in tomatoes wherever I can..salads, soups, roasted with veggies, you name it! How do you incorporate this mighty lil fruit into your day to day? 🍅✨
