As we were heading to the store, Bear grabbed my hand.

Hollywood would have us believe the mid-life crisis is about red sports cars, joining a punk cover band or quitting your job and traveling the world in the style of Eat. Pray. Love.

The reality often looks more like
*an ever-expanding waistline despite eating healthy and spending hours in the gym
* painful periods, complete with sore b***s and cramps (uuuugh!)
*adult acne and dry skin (how do those even happen together?!)
*mood swings that rival the Buccaneer ride at 6 Flags
*anxiety-induced heart palpitations
*existential dread, wondering if your life has meaning.

We fail to prepare women for peri- and menopause. Society instead conditions you to suck it up, put your big girl panties (or Wonder Woman socks) on, and just work harder.

Too often that becomes a spiral that leaves you more exhausted and feeling unfulfilled.

Reclaiming your power and creating your juiciest life in menopause is not about sucking it up. It's an opportunity to experience all that's possible if you are willing to stop the struggle and listen to the whisperings (or for some of us, the arm-waving shouts) of your soul.

I feel called to shift the "crisis" of mid-life from devastatingly painful to gloriously freeing.

I've been feeling more and more called to create art recently. Since I process kinesthetically, textiles, clay & paper are super appealing mediums to me. It makes me happy and feeds my soul.

On the days when I cannot center my thoughts enough to create an entire gratitude list, at the very least I come back to being grateful for the Mother and the gifts she has given in the form of plants.

In the past 2 weeks I've had to navigate medical emergencies of 2 family members. Add on top of that my body is attempting a 2nd moon cycle this month. After not having a period for almost 6 months, there's a *teensy* bit of hormone fluctuations happening.

As you might imagine, it has left me feeling a bit raw and scattered.

Bear brewed me a cup (ok, more like 4) of grounding tea. Or as I would have called it: a cuppa plant magic.

I've talked about this grounding tea before, and this week I was SUPER thankful we had the chamomile and rose in the house. WHEW.

The base recipe I have been using most recently:
Chamomile
Rose petals
Sage

(No amounts are listed, as it varies depending on what my body needs at the time.)

This week it was amazingly soothing, a balm for my frayed nerves.

From burdock root to chaga to this grounding blend of goodness, tea made from plants is not only a delicious switch up from non-stop water consumption, it can also deliver some much needed health benefits.
