I get it, it's not what you are used to.

A few of the questions I keep getting about the Consistency Coven…

Because I know for many of you, you’re reading, feeling the pull…

Yes and no.

These issues are incredibly common during perimenopause and for women post menopause.

“My body is betraying me.”

She said it quietly.

Not angry.
Not dramatic.

Just… tired.

“I don’t recognise myself anymore.”

She used to feel in control.
She knew how to lose weight.
She knew how to push through.

Now her sleep is lighter.
Her workouts exhaust her instead of energising her.
Her belly feels softer no matter how “good” she’s been.
Her brain feels foggy by mid-afternoon.

And underneath it all is the quiet fear:

Is this just what happens now?

There’s a grief in midlife no one talks about.

The grief of not recognising your body.
The grief of trying harder and getting less.
The grief of feeling like your body has turned against you.

But here’s the truth.

Your body isn’t betraying you.

It’s protecting you.

In perimenopause, estrogen — which once buffered stress — begins to fluctuate. Recovery slows. The margin for stress gets smaller.

You’ll wake up.
Get out of bed.
Make coffee.

Maybe you’ll go for a walk.

And halfway through that walk you’ll notice something strange.

Many women believe emotional eating means they lack willpower.

But most of the time it’s something very different.

It’s your nervous system trying to protect you.

When stress hits, the body activates survival mode.

For some people that shuts appetite down.

For others it does the opposite.

Cortisol rises and the brain looks for quick comfort and quick energy — usually sugar, carbs, or something soothing.

Food becomes a fast way to calm the nervous system.

But there’s often another layer.

For most of our lives we’re told consistency is the golden ticket.

Just show up every day, right?.

Stick to the plan.

Do the workout.

Eat the salad.

Don’t quit.

Easy.

Until one day it feels like you’re trying to run a marathon in heels… while carrying a backpack full of bricks.

Sleep gets lighter.

Stress hits harder.

Your energy goes from lioness to three-legged sloth by mid-afternoon.

And suddenly the consistency that used to feel doable now feels like pushing a boulder uphill… in the rain… with someone shouting “just try harder!” from the sidelines.

So what do most women do?

They blame themselves.

“I’ve lost my discipline.”

“I just need to get back on track.”

“I used to be able to do this.”

But here’s the truth most people miss.

This usually isn’t a discipline problem.

It’s an Armour Weight problem.

When your nervous system has been bracing for years, juggling careers, kids, partners, ageing parents, emotional labour, people-pleasing, and pushing through stress like a champion Olympic overachiever, your body adapts.
