Women are freak’n incredible.
We have overcome oppression, suppression, dominance, exclusion, got a vote, our bills passed, our education and degrees, our seat at the table.

But there is still work to be done.
We haven’t arrived, our daughters and granddaughters, nieces and cousins are counting on the history we write for their futures.
This day was founded on those principles. Bold, strong, tenacious women paved a road that we now walk on.

So hero on lovelies! Be the girl boss, entrepreneur, mom, aunt, sister, cousin, friend, activist, artist, creator, mentor, teacher, and leader that those who fought before you, couldn’t be.

Each and every one of these inspiring women are doing exactly that. These are artists, creators, entrepreneurs, mothers, wives, aunts, grandmothers, and so much more.

She is clothed in strength and dignity, she laughs without fear of the future.

Growing up, words brought me a great deal of comfort, entertainment, expression, and pain.
I was a published poet and short story writer by the age of 18 and learned early that to know your way around a world full of words was both a gift and a benefit.

Yesterday, at the inauguration of Joe Biden, her words tore down walls, marked history, burned holes in misconceptions and cleared a path forward.
She is known for her words. She is celebrated for her words. She is considered remarkable for her words.
But make no mistake, if she looked like me, her “remarkable” words would be expected, making them not as remarkable. I challenge you to look beyond her color and see her as remarkable simply because she is.
Remarkable because at 22, she has a clearer understanding and perception of life than most people twice her age. Remarkable because she stood in front of a divided American people in all her beauty and shined bright.

Hero on sis, you did that! Keep up the beautiful work.

I have nothing major to announce....especially not in the wake of a historical inauguration, or a major patience-trying year.
I’m not buying a house, having a baby or changing careers. I’m not working on any major projects or embarking on anything new.

Being on these social apps sometimes makes us feel like we have to have the perfect picture to go with the perfect caption of our perfect lives.
But I’m here to let you know that you are enough. Your life is amazing because it is yours and you are exactly where you are supposed to be in this moment.

I painted this picture at the beginning of the pandemic when doing a study on the word “treasured”. I’ve always connected with words and used creativity for all types of expression.
Treasured means, “to keep carefully or value greatly.” I needed that reminder early last year, and maybe you do too.

This hangs over my desk now and as I reflected on what prompted me to paint this, I was reminded of this verse that shows us how much God treasures each of us, and how He treats what He treasures. I hope it brings you comfort and hope today as well.

This Christmas...

I decided I wanted to sit with family and friends instead of tending to dishes in the kitchen.
I wanted to try something new, employ some creativity and put a little something for everyone on the table.

I wanted to focus on conversations, laughs, and making memories. I wanted to see the wonder in my kids eyes, to see my husband’s eyes dance as he passed out carefully curated gifts. I wanted to savor and lot labor.

So I did. I set this table and walked away (save a few refills), and just soaked in all the moments. It’s been one of my favorite holidays yet.

Merry Christmas lovelies! Here’s to all the beautiful moments of this season, and all the ones we have to look forward to 💖

Can we just pause together for a sec and have a brief moment of silence for my Body Prophet body serum 😩

One of the things I love most about using makeup as an artist is it’s versatility.

Clean beauty has come a long way since I started and I love that so many products can be utilized in a variety of ways, even if that wasn’t the original intent.
We can use a concealer to highlight, a tinted moisturizer to contour, and lip stain to elevate the cheeks. Faces have long been one of my favorite canvases.

Beauties like this make my job easy! But what about the rest of us who have larger pores, small/thin lips, dry skin, mature skin, deep-set eyes, sparse lashes, strong eyebrows...or anything else we could think to list?!

For those of you who may not know what I’m talking about...keep swiping left.
I was introduced to .official about 4 years ago and was immediately smitten.
Alexis (owner and formulator) has managed to make the perfect marriage of clean beauty and clinical results.
She’s been hard at work reformulating and amping up her products carefully and intentionally...and continuing to nail it!

The second slide are just a few of my favorites, minus the Haute C cuz’ I’m all out and no, I don’t want to talk about it.
This is one of 4 lines that I have come back to consistently, can use everything in the line without issue, my skin doesn’t hit a plateau and I don’t mind putting all my friends onto it! It checks off my boxes of botanical foundations, master formulations and clinical results.

Recently, her line has been scalped and a copycat is running rampant.
They’ve stolen copy, formula, clout and aesthetic. So I decided to help.
I made these collages out of recycled Lilfox packaging, cotton and handmade papers and painted jewels. I love how they turned out and hope you do too!
