Keep Our NHS Public North East Campaigning in the North East to KEEP OUR NHS PUBLIC. Further information is at www.konpnortheast.com Keep Our NHS Public North East was established in 2010.

We support the full re-instatement of a comprehensive, universal, publicly funded, publicly owned, publicly provided and publicly accountable, national health service which is free at the point of use and has the resources needed to provide excellent health care for all on a long term, sustainable basis. We campaign against the ongoing marketisation and privatisation of our NHS, which was brought

about by the 2012 Health and Social Care Act

We are a group of local people who strongly believe in a publicly run NHS. Our membership mostly comprises members of the general public, along with some health professionals, . "The NHS will survive as long as there are folk left with the faith to fight for it"

Second Saturday in July each year – there’s only one place to be….
Busy time on the stall and much interest from all. Petitions signed via QR codes, email addresses collected for our monthly update, hundreds of leaflets out and many discussions.

Particularly interesting to meet up with the hundreds of people passing through the tent – thank you for all comments and lively conversations. It is clear that the Miners Gala is overwhelmingly a zone!! A publicly funded and publicly provided NHS for all, comprehensive, and free at the time of need.

It is always lovely to meet up with members from KONP groups from around the country – thank you to all.

Over 1600 KONPNE leaflets distributed door-to-door – approx half the ward – and the wording on the leaflet says it all. The voting pattern in May 2026 was Reform UK 47.2%, Labour 28.8%, Greens 13.4%, Lib Dem 9.3% and TUSC 1.3% – interested to see the results of the By-Election scheduled for this Thursday….
