healing eastern influences. Here we extend to you an opportunity to partake in as much or as little of what we offer. Yoga, healing foods, massage, creative play, hiking, swimming, singing, dancing, gardening, walking the labyrinth or just hanging in the hammock.

Greetings Everyone! A New Year is upon us and we're cleaning out the cobwebs of both the mind and online spaces. While our website is under reconstruction, we thought we'd give the fb page a little update.

While in person retreats are on hold, our online classes are being created right now.

Why Meditation Brings Success?

The greatest key to success, regardless of which field you are in, is the ability to do the hard things when the moment demands it. We all know in our hearts what needs to be done, the problem is that we are unwilling to do these difficult things in a timely manner and that then makes it impossible for us to succeed. And this is where the practice of meditation is so incredibly beneficial.

Meditation requires you to sit through physical pain, boredom, emotional trauma and anything else that comes up during your sessions. This training, the strength to sit through and endure in the moment physical, mental or emotional distress, then translates into a super human ability to do what is necessary, regardless of how hard it is, when it is necessary. This lays the foundation for success.

Mindfulness is a new rage. I see this word everywhere — in newspaper and magazine articles and on TV. There are now a multitude of mindfulness apps. But what is it? What does it really mean? Why should we aspire to greater mindfulness? How do we become more mindful?

The phrase was popularized by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., a psychologist who was a long-time meditator. He developed a training program called “Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction” which he introduced at the medical center where he worked. It’s a good program—focusing on time-tested methods of relaxation. He didn’t invent anything—he borrowed, as many of us do, from several time-honored traditions.

Staying in the Moment When the Moment Is Awful

Like the recent mass shooting at a Texas elementary school and the racist slaughter in Buffalo, scary news can be especially hard for those of us with mental illness to absorb and live with.

We tend to be highly susceptible to negative emotions that are being parlayed on the news right now. Despair, frustration, anger, and fear are all on display, and I can only take so much before I start to spiral down into hopelessness and depression. I know I need to limit my exposure and up my recovery game. And that means turning off the news and tuning into the moment.
