Make it productive
Make it purposeful
Make it fun
Make a difference
Living with a disability comes with many barriers, some obvious to you and some you wouldn’t even think of. It’s my job to empower people to keep them moving and show that progress can be made with the right dosage and structure of exercise. Helping them reach mini wins is huge for their mental wellbeing!

Truth is if you ever hear your Trainer/Therapist say this line we most likely lost count at 6 because we started to fade thinking about something like what we are going to eat for lunch 🤣
1 rep isn’t enough, it sounds like we actually forgot to count and it’s too easy for you to pull us up on it
3 reps is too much in case you actually finished your set so we will get caught out or you’ll fail the set
2 is good. 2 is safe. 2 gets us out of jail 🤣

You either have a good therapist or a fraud, know the difference 🙏🏽
Therapists can get caught falling into the trap of not doing what they should be doing often because we get scared we aren’t going to help or feeling like we have to make it look like we know what we are doing and give you the answer you were hoping for. There a lot of layers to rehab it’s complex, and with your help we can make a lot progress. It’s not a freeway and a bike path it’s a two way highway where both parties need to give and take info, ideas, feedback, debates, strategies, suggestions and communication.
Remember we are human, we make mistakes, but most of us do our job because we want to help. We will be real and try our best with the right intentions! All we expect is for you to try and give us time to let things work because it’s not an overnight process!

‼️FORGET BRACING! REMEMBER STACKING ‼️
Stack the ribs over the pelvis, not just “brace hard.” A stable, stacked spine lets the abs and the back work together for safe, powerful lifting—great for sport and running. 💪⚽🏃‍♀️

What to cue and feel:
- 🧘‍♀️ Neutral spine: ribs level with pelvis, not flared or tucked.
- 🫁 Diaphragm breathing: inhale to expand the belly and ribcage; exhale with control to maintain stability.
- 🪢 Active but soft brace: engage TVA and obliques without tensing neck or jaw.
- 🦾 Posterior chain engagement: keep glutes, hamstrings, and back muscles connected for load transfer.
- 🔄 Even load distribution: avoid shifting weight forward (too much anterior tilt) or back (too much posterior tilt).

Common ideas to avoid:
- Don’t over-brace in a way that stiffens the neck or causes breath-holding.
- Don’t let the rib cage flare or collapse, which disrupts alignment and IAP.

🛡️ **Why Strength Training Matters** 🛡️

Look if you know me well you know I don’t love the gym but I do it for its benefits to allow me to do the things I love! Sport and endurance hobbies…. injury free! There’s no way around it, you need strength exercises into your life as it will significantly lower your injury risk and enhance performance🤔 Let’s break it down the minimum amount you should do for noticeable changes!
1 x Session for maintenance p/week
2 x Sessions for steady progress (mainly what I have done for 20+ years
3 x Sessions for quicker progress (ideal amount)
The body adapts to repetition so 2 is more than enough and allows you to balance it with the other stuff you love!❤️
**What are Compound Exercises?** These are movements that work multiple muscle groups at once—think squats, deadlifts, and bench presses.

**The Benefits:**
1. **Increased Strength:** Building strength in major muscle groups stabilizes your joints, making you less prone to injuries during sports or everyday activities.
2. **Better Coordination:** Compound exercises improve neuromuscular coordination, helping your body move more efficiently and safely.
3. **Bone Health:** They enhance bone density, which decreases the chances of fractures over time.

**Physiological Adaptations:** 😌

- **Muscle Hypertrophy:** Your muscles grow stronger and larger, aiding in injury prevention.
- **Tendon & Ligament Strengthening:** Your body becomes more resilient, providing better support to your joints.
- **Improved Balance & Stability:** As you progress, you’ll notice better control in your movements, reducing the likelihood of falls or strains.
