Perimenopause can affect mood, sleep, muscle function, and joint comfort — largely due to fluctuating oestrogen levels and increased nervous system demand.
Magnesium is one of the most well-researched minerals for women during this transition. In particular, magnesium glycinate is recognised for its high bioavailability and superior tolerability, especially for women experiencing stress, hormonal shifts, and digestive sensitivity.
Magnesium plays a critical role in:
• Nervous system regulation and mood support
• Muscle relaxation and reduction of cramps
• Joint comfort and inflammatory balance
• Sleep quality and relaxation pathways

When bound to glycine, an inhibitory amino acid, magnesium glycinate has been shown to support calming neurotransmitter activity and improve neuromuscular function — making it especially beneficial during perimenopause when sleep disturbance, muscle tension, and emotional reactivity are common.
As oestrogen levels fluctuate, magnesium requirements often increase, and deficiency has been associated with increased muscle pain, low mood, and sleep disruption.

Perimenopause isn’t something to “push through.”
It’s a phase that deserves targeted, science-backed nutritional support.

One of the main symptoms of perimenopause and menopause that often gets overlooked as simply a symptom we have to live with is BRAIN FOG.
No your not experiencing the onset of dementia, and yes these symptoms can be lessened by tweaks to your everyday lifestyle.
Brain fog symptoms can be made better by HRT but what if your at a stage where you don't want it or can't due to history of cancers within your family.
The two main culprits for this brain fog are estrogen and testosterone when they begin to drop... Estrogen helps stimulate the brain, helps the function of neurons, supporting new cell growth and helps them form connections. A ddepletion in this hormone can cause hot flashes, night sweats, anxiety, depression, and brain fog along with lots of other cognitive symptoms.
Testosterone produced by our ovaries aids towards mental sharpness, clarity and overall energy levels.
So what can we do to help oyrselves:
✨Consuming a brain friendly diet of omega 3s and 6s found in foods like eggs, fish, nuts and seeds.
✨Having a diet containing foods rich in antioxidants and vitamin A, C, and E.
✨Regualr exercise and steps, helping support your mental and emotional health.
✨Try improve sleep quality by reducing screen time before bed, keeping your windows open before going to sleep so your room is cool when you need to go to bed, keeping the room dark, using tools such as sleep hypnosis or meditation practices before sleep.
