Hope everyone is having a good Thanksgiving week thus far, I will be making this lovely Cranberry Orange bread tomorrow to enjoy all weekend. Peek for the recipe on the blog! Also, will be heading out to the food bank later today to donate some goods. Please if you can, donate what you can to homeless shelters, womens shelters and food banks. These are some pretty trying times for many & the holidays sometimes makes things a bit more complicated. Instead of spending that money for black Friday sales, give, give and give some more to things that matter the most.. the community needs it.🤍

photo series starts today, created by the talented to bring more light on culturally diverse foods every month! Be sure to follow the hashtag to start learning🤓. My feature for this month is none other than a popular favorite! In Mexico we call it 'Agua de Jamaica' & it has always been a refreshing childhood favorite. You may know it as Hibiscus tea (although it is more commonly enjoyed as a cold beverage in Latin countries)
😋
Nutritionally, this drink carries benefits due to the bright color it offers which are antioxidants. It is also rich in vitamin C & iron! This is a combo made in heaven because vitamin c helps the absorption of iron😇🙌🏽
😋
This drink has many variations in different Latin countries, we call it 'de Jamaica' bc the vibrant red flowers used in this drink are also widely used in the Caribbean country of Jamaica. They often call it sorrel. The original origins are said to come from African regions and was said to be introduced to Mexico via our pacific regions from Asian travelers? It's a bit confusing, but either way this flower has traveled all over the world, East & West from Africa🌍 I find it so fascinating learning about food origins and their travels into other cultures cuisines & I also think it is extremely important to be mindful of food origins. I would love to keep learning more because I only scratched the surface on this, there is in fact sooo much more idk about!😆 Are you familiar with the hibiscus flower in other cuisines? Tell me below or tell me other ways you enjoy hibiscus flowers😋😋😋

Food truly gives us (life) in many senses because food ties in our roots & values to our lives. This is why I love to teach the value of food with my business, by inspiring the community to stick with cultural foods & also teach the community to do the same while promoting a healthy compassionate lifestyle. Learn more about these specialities & how I help people with diabetes (one of my main patient populations) by listening to podcast's latest episode I was featured in👋🌱🎧

, have you tried this cool little legume before? Edamame pods are legumes with immature green soybeans inside them that make a great snack. They are not just super yummy but nutritious! I often recommend this as a friendly snack to those looking for protein-carb balance for control. As a vegan, I love these as part of a meal & a snack as well. My favorite is to steam them in their pods (they sell microwaveable baggies) & I then just sprinkle a bit of and lime juice. Done & yum! Have you tried edamame? What's your favorite way to eat them?

As we remember & the catalyst of change he has awakened let's also remember that everyday we must not forget.. That this is not the first time have spoken up. Let's not forget that this work is not over this week, next month or next year. If you started self-work within, talks in your family or workplace I urge you to continue to do so for generations or start NOW. Centuries of needs a tremendous amount of work in all areas of life & as we take genuine action for systemic/sustainable change lets remember in the words of Gianna Floyd, that her "daddy changed the world" because he historically did.🖤
