💚ASIAN SALMON RECIPE💚

Ok here it is by popular demand! We love salmon and I normally slather it with pesto and whack in the oven (another speedy fish supper you should try 👍) but thought I’d change it up a bit this week and was met with rapturous applause and demands for second helpings all round (this never happens!) so thought I should share it with you.

Mix together in a bowl:
3 cloves crushed garlic
Lump of chopped fresh ginger
2 chopped spring onions
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp rice vinegar

Put salmon in an oven dish or baking tray, cover with the sauce and bake for 20 mins or until cooked through. (Make sure you cover your dish before cooking or make a foil parcel for the salmon so the sauce doesn’t all dry out.)

Serve with brown rice and broccoli, pour extra sauce over and sprinkle with sesame seeds and coriander - YUM! 😋

A delicious easy supper, with all the anti-inflammatory and anti-vital health benefits of ginger and garlic thrown in, which we all need right now!

Let me know if you give it a go, you can SAVE this post for later and SHARE it with your friends too.

Happy Friday everyone 😘

Hello! 👋 How’s September going for you? Raring to go or still reeling from it all?

☀️I have to say I’m still very much in the latter camp. 🤪 I took an extended insta break over the summer to look after myself and hang out with the kids alongside some tricky personal stuff - skin cancer op, mother in a care home - and now slowly easing myself back into routines and as back-to-normal as life gets these days. So don’t worry if you feel like the last 18 months is catching up with you in your first child-free week in forever, you’re not alone.

❤️Small steps is always a strategy I use with my clients, it’s so overwhelming to try and do all the things at once, so I’m enjoying taking my own advice. Lots of exciting things are coming, just in their own time 😊

💚If you need some help taking some small steps towards calmer, easier, healthier family mealtimes, or just a general September food reset, I have a small number of Power Hour slots available and I’d love to help 💚 just drop me a comment or a DM 😘

🤎 Happy World Chocolate Day! 🤎

🤎 Did you know, dark chocolate (70% cocoa or above) is packed with more antioxidants than blueberries or green tea, and studies have shown it can lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease, as well as improving our brain function 🧠. So get stuck in, no guilt allowed!

🤎 Think about where your chocolate comes from too, try to choose ethical brands like Fair Trade co-owned by farmers in Ghana or who want to eradicate child slavery in chocolate production. Or support small, local producers like my fave rather than the big brands.

🤎Dreaming of a freshly baked pain au chocolat, or a melting chocolate fondant pudding, how about you, what are your all time chocolate faves?

Do you think your diet can affect your chances of catching Covid?

💚This was the topic of a study carried out recently by and was discussed on a brilliant webinar with .spector this week.

💚They found that people with the ‘best’ diets (more plants, less ultra processed food) were 10% less likely to catch Covid and 40% less likely to suffer with severe symptoms than those with the ‘worst’ diets.

💚This is a massive effect and shows that we have the power to really improve our health through the food choices we make for ourselves and our family every day

💚Another key factor is the diversity of plant foods that we eat - 30 is a great number to aim for per week, but the best thing is to start where you are and add a couple at a time so it doesn’t feel overwhelming

🌈 Try adding in extra fruit, vegetables, pulses, whole grains, nuts and seeds to your meals and snacks throughout the day and it will soon add up!

🌈You can download my free Food Diversity Chart now to help you get started - just click the link in my bio. I can’t wait to hear how you get on! What can you add in today?

Last week I went to London for the first time in an absolute age, to have a belated birthday afternoon tea with my sis and it was glorious! We went to The Langham and ate the most delicious cakes until we were fit to burst, then I trundled home again on the train feeling very happy.

🍰 Many people assume that nutritionists don’t eat cake, or chocolate, or ice cream and just munch on salad all day long 😇, but that’s not the case, well for me anyway!

💚I’m always telling my clients about ‘80-20 balance’ - eating a diverse, whole food diet 80% of the time to support your health, and then 20% of the time enjoying things that might be less nutritious, just because you like them, and crucially without guilt. (Of course I do still love a salad - swipe ➡️ for my latest summer peach and feta fave! 🥗)

🍰This is a much more sustainable approach for long term health than restricting certain foods or going on the latest fad diet. 20% means about 4 out of 21 meals in a week, so plan your 20%, choose the things you really love and give yourself permission to really enjoy them 😋

💚If you’d like help with working it all out, or with any other food or nutrition challenges, drop me a DM and we can have a chat or book one of my Power Hours 💥 there are still a couple of slots left for June!

So tell me, what would be in your 20%? 😋 x

What do you do with too many ripe bananas? 🍌They are going brown before my eyes in this weather! 😅

I asked this question on stories last week so thought I’d share all your fab ideas as there are so many delicious ways you can use them up so none end up in the bin.

💛 Bake with them in lockdown fave banana cake or muffins
💛 Make a smoothie with bananas, frozen berries, spinach and almond milk
💛 Slice or mash them on sourdough toast with peanut butter - my fave!
💛 Cut into pieces and freeze for another day, or blend straight from the freezer to make one ingredient ‘nice cream’ - see for more freezer tips
💛 Make banana pancakes with just 3 ingredients - 1 banana, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup ground almonds. Fry in butter for a couple of mins each side then serve with fresh fruit, yoghurt and a drizzle of maple syrup 😋

This is an amazing breakfast and will keep you and the kids going much longer than a bowl of cereal 💪

🍌What do you do with yours? Let me know in the comments below and SAVE this post for next time you need banana inspo!

Happy Mondays all 😘
