We did it Joe! We did it!
16 rounds of (+6 rounds immunotherapy) over the last 5.5 months.
Excuse me while I hibernate over the next few days.

What do we think, breasties? I can’t be the only one?

In fact almost all midwives have graduate level education.

Might see if this opens a few garage doors 👀

Five months of chemotherapy and I have 2️⃣ doses left (including today’s session!). Guess which finger I’m reserving for cancer?

Just one reason why annual exams are so important.

✨Allow me to reintroduce myself✨
Hey, I’m Heather! I am a Certified Nurse Midwife in Maternal Fetal Medicine + academia. (…and YES midwives belong in high risk pregnancy, there can be something SO validating about understanding the pivot from desiring normalcy when a pregnancy becomes high risk and navigating that path).

I’m also currently navigating triple negative breast cancer. It’s a journey I never thought I would travel, but here we are. So, if I can share some insight and knowledge to make someone else’s experience easier, that’s what we’re going to do!

Some things about me:
📍I’m a born and raised Midwesterner turned Southerner, growing up in lowa and Illinois, but have called North Carolina home since my two adult children were babies (one is a nurse, one is a fireman…my husband is a Nurse Case Mgr making the holidays fun to arrange).

🤱🏻I knew in nursing school I wanted to work in women’s health. My first exposure to midwifery was as a CNA at the community hospital in my college town.

✈️ I love traveling •🥤coffee •🧋and boba.
If I had to chose a completely different career path it would be to own a coffee & boba truck on an island.🌴

🩺 Some of my professional interests are perinatal mood disorders (anxiety & depression in pregnancy/postpartum), preconception care, all forms of (yes, non-hormonal too!), and now of course- breast health.

♻️If it’s upcycled, I’m a sucker for it! I love repurposed jewelry, bags, clothes, shoes, etc! (🤔sustainably boujie?)

Now…I want to know about Y O U!
What is something we have in common? Or if you chose a completely different path, what would it be?

you can probably figure out how to tie a head wrap on the first try better than I can explain it. 😂

And honestly unless you have any deficiencies or dietary restrictions a basic prenatal vitamin is fine.(we know you’re just trying to make the best decisions).
