My journal and my pen do not compete with anyone for my attention. They do not live alongside an algorithm loaded with creators trying to catch my eye. They do not interrupt me. They do not ping me with notification bells and message alerts. They do not try to sell me anything. They make no attempt to change the direction of my thoughts and they make no attempt to distract me from the current moment. They are slowly becoming my constant companions while my phone is pushed to the side and, unlike my phone, they do not protest loudly when I, for whatever reason, neglect them. They do not complain. They do not spy on me. They do not trick me. They do not manipulate. They have no agenda other than the ones I personally set.
