Your body is always speaking.
Spots, bloating, constipation, fatigue — they’re often not random. They’re signals.
And sometimes we misunderstand what they’re trying to tell us.
For example:
Spotty skin isn’t always about skincare.
If you’re constipated, your body isn’t eliminating efficiently. Waste products and hormones can linger longer than they should, creating a greater internal load — and the skin often helps carry that burden.
Constipation isn’t always about fibre.
Stress changes digestion.
When we’re in fight-or-flight, the body reduces digestive secretions, slows motility and shifts energy away from “rest and digest.”
Sometimes the bowel slows because the nervous system is overloaded.
And eating while scrolling?
Digestion starts before the first bite.
Looking at food, smelling it, chewing it — all of this helps trigger the digestive process.
If we’re distracted, rushing or disconnected, those signals can be weaker.
And no — we can’t superfood our way out of stress.
You can eat all the kale in the world, but if your nervous system is dysregulated or there’s unprocessed emotional stress underneath it all, symptoms often persist.
Because sometimes the root isn’t nutritional.
Sometimes it’s emotional.
Stress.
Heartbreak.
Overwhelm.
Grief.
Pressure.
This is part of what I explore as a naturopath and herbalist.
Not just the symptom.
But the root.
What is your body trying to say?
What patterns keep repeating?
Where is the stress coming from?
And what support does your system need to feel safe enough to heal?
Because when we understand the root, everything starts to make more sense.
Nature knows. Herbs remind us.
