The heron time starts here in the Wildcrafted Year planner.

Herons are inherently patient - and they wait for the perfect moment to act rather than rushing. Spring makes me want to bounce and all the things because the sun is glorious and we start to feel more awake and alive. Heron reminds us to meter the enthusiasm and allow the spring plans to com together before we act.

As spring returns here, and so do the birds and plants, we are watching the renewal happen in real time. Celtic tradition recognizes the heron as a symbol of renewal and transformation.

I carry heron close to my heart on a pattern on my winter jacket - to remind myself about the patience and staying true to my personal path.

It’s been a bit since the BCIT Intensive with the , and I’ve had time to let it all settle.

What it really opened for me was a deeper look at the medicine — where it comes from, how it moves, and all the hands it passes through before it reaches us.

I’ve found myself drawn back into botany for the summer… making a commitment to art and sketching again, sitting with plants, camera and loupe in hand, slowing down enough to really see what’s there.

It’s also shifted how I look at my own apothecary too — thinking more carefully about process, about standard operating procedures, about what it means to make medicine with integrity.

And it’s widened the lens.
To the wild foragers. The farmers, the pickers, often far away. The ecosystems that hold it all.

There’s a whole web of relationship behind every jar.
And we each have a role to play in how that medicine is tended, gathered, and carried forward.

It really reminded me about how important it is to be in relationship with the plants. This has been a stronghold of my practice since I started, and a reason I love the garden as my lab so much. Time for the next iteration of that.

This season in Herb Club, we’ll move with the rhythm of the land:
✨ April - nourishing ourselves with stinging nettle, fresh and mineral-rich after winter
✨ May - exploring rhubarb beyond the pie, into ferments, syrups, and creative kitchen medicine
✨ June - gathering in community for our annual plant & seed swap, sharing what’s growing and abundant

These evenings are simple, hands-on, and rooted in real life, learning plants through taste, touch, and conversation. No perfection, no pressure. Just a return to the kitchen, the garden, and each other.

If you’ve been craving connection to plants, to food, to community - this is your place.

I keep looking for signs of spring, but today it's still snow and silence. So we sit - me and the one who walks with me through every season, waiting for the thaw.

Some days I think I’m a plant weirdo and then others I hang out with my mom and we forage and harvest p***y willows together… and I remember where I learned it and that I come by it, honestly 😂❤️
