Transparency Post: I went back to therapy today and even though I cried like a baby, it felt so good.
As a therapist myself, I know the importance of therapy, but I also know the importance of coming to a good end with your therapist and living your life with the skills you’ve worked so hard on. Hence the reason why my therapist and I terminated our sessions about 18 months ago.
And while I know that, I also know the importance of picking up that phone and hitting your therapist up saying I need to come back for a few sessions, you got me?
I can honestly say that, today, I am personally happier than any other time I have been in my life. So why did I go back to therapy?
Because therapy is not only about working through the darkest parts of your life, it’s about working through the happiest parts of your life too and figuring out how to embrace newness, joy, happiness, and the good ol’ fears of the unknown.
Thank god my therapist had availability and we were able to make something work. Because tuhhhhh, I’m trying to maintain this happiness.
🫶🏽 Be well.
Oh, and it’s Black History Month, so do something for yourself that your future you will thank you for.
