Often when I speak with my patients, I ask them how theyâre doing. I ask knowing that the answer isn't always going to be "I'm great!!". I ask with zero expectation, fully understanding that people typically donât call me because they feel amazing and everything is going perfectly.
A lot of times Iâll get an:
âIâm doing okay.â
To which I say:
âWell okay! Weâll take okayâbecause sometimes thatâs all we have in us, and thatâs completely okay.â
As we head into the last Friday of Mental Health Awareness Month, I just want to remind everyone that itâs okay to simply be okay.
Itâs okay to feel like "life is lifing" right now and youâre doing the best you can, because sometimes that's all we can do!
Life can be heavy, and it can feel even more overwhelming when youâre navigating both mental and physical health symptoms at the same time.
Sometimes people donât need someone to immediately fix everything. Sometimes they just need someone willing to sit alongside them in the mud puddle for a little whileâand help them out when itâs time.
As the patient care coordinator at Restoration Healthcare, my goal is to be that person helping you through your health journey. My goal is to meet people where theyâre at and help take some of that burden off their shoulders.
Because the mind-body connection is real, and the way we feel physically can have a huge impact on how we feel mentally and emotionally too.
You didn't ask to feel unwell, but you can ask for help getting back to feeling like yourself again.
So let this Mental Health Awareness Month be a reminder to check in with yourself. Ask yourself what symptoms, stressors, or struggles may be affecting your everyday life.
Because being simply okay is 100% okayâŚ
âŚbut living limitless is even better. đ
