Sexually Transmitted Disease
This class of diseases,called STDs for short includes any infection spread by having s*x.
STDs include gonorrhea,syphilis,HIV (the AIDS virus),chlamydia,trichomoniasis,herpes,pubic lice,and genetal warts.If not treated,however,some of these diseases can cause infertility.Others eventually fatal.You can't tell by looking if someone has an STD,abd many people don't know they are infected.Most of these diseases are caused by bacteria or viruses and are spread by having oral,vaginal,or a**l (re**al) s*x.
Your doctor can perform tests to see what kind of infection you have.You may need an antibiotic medicine to fight the bacteria.

What You Should Do
1.Always take your medicine as directed.If you are taking antibiotics,continue to take them until they are all gone,even if you feel well.
2.Don't have s*x (including oral s*x) while you and your partner are being treated for a STD.
3.Tell all your s*x partners that you are being treated for a STD.They may be infected and need treatment.
4.Wash your hands often,especially after you urinate or have a bowel movement.To avoid spreading an STD to your eyes,do not touch them with your hands.
5.If you are pregnant,tell your doctor that you have s*xually transmitted disease.Your STD could spread to your unborn child.
6.Ask your doctor for the instructions on practicing safe s*x and using condoms.
7.To keep from getting STD,you should practice safe s*x or avoid all s*xual contact.The only completely safe s*x occurs between two faithful partners who do not have STDs.
8.You can improve your chances of avoiding an STD by using condoms.Athough condoms do not provide foolproof protection,they reduce your risks of being infected.
9.The more people you have s*x with,the greater your chance of developing a s*xually transmitted disease.The fewer your s*xual partners the better.

LET'S LOOK AT ARRHYTHMIAS
The healthy heart is a marvel of efficiency,pumping approximately five quarts of blood.Any disturbance in the normal beating pattern of the heart is called an arrhythmia,or irregular heartbeat.
There are two main categories of arrhythmia:
Tachycardia,meaning too fast a heartbeat,and Bradycardia,meaning too slow a hearbeat.Both conditions refer only to exceptional elevations or depression of heart rate,not to the normalvariance that occurs throuhout the day depending on whether you are resting or active.At rest,the heart beats somewhere between 60 and 100 times per minute.Tachycardia is defined as more than 100 beats per minute,while bradycardia as defined as fewer than 60 beats per minute.

Most arrhythmias fall into the tachycardia category.Some originate in the atria,some in the ventricles.Ventricular arrhythmias,are typically more serious conditions.In fact,most cases of sudden death are due to ventricular arrhythmias,not heart attack as once thought.
Bradycardia can be due to problems with nerves that control heartbeat with the sinus node,where the heart's electrical originate,or actual transmission of those impulses through the heart.In the latter condition known as heart block.

CALL YOUR DOCTOR IF:
1.You experience irregular heartbeats that are recurrent and produce discomfort.Any sustained or intense arrhythmia should be investigated to determine its severity.
2.While taking antiarrhythmic medication,you experience side effects such as dizziness,vomiting,nausea,blurred vision,ringing in the ears,diarrhea,loss of appetite,or loss of consciousness.A new prescription will often correct the problem.

PREVENTION
Limit your use of caffeine,nicotene,alcohol,and stimulant drugs,all of which can speed heart rate.If you have a history of tachycardia,you should avoid these substances altogether.Reduce stress through exercise,meditation,or any other technique that works for you.If you have a heart a heart condition,take proper steps to control it;this may also prevent or control arrhythmias.
MEDICAL TIPS:
Next time an attack occurs,try plunging your face into a basin of cold water.Your heart rate will temporarily plummer,which may serve to break the tachycardia.

LET'S LOOK AT HEPATITIS,CAUSES AND PREVENTION.

Hepatitis,a general term that means inflammation of the liver applies to a group of viral disorders commonly known as A,B,C,D,and E.Another type of hepatitis is brought and through alcohol abuse or the use of drugs or the ingestion of toxins in the environment.
The five viruses that cause hepatitis can be transmitted in different ways,but they all have one thing in common:They infect the liver and caused it to become inflamed.

CAUSES
Hepatitis A,which is generally contracted orally through f***l contamination of food or water,is considered the less dangerous form of the disease because it does not lead to chronic inflammation of the liver.
Hepatitis B,the most widespread of the hepatitis virus.The virus can pass from mother to child at birth.Hepatitis B can also be spread through s*xual contact,blood transfusion,and needle sharing by intravenous drug users.
Hepatitis C,is usually spread through contact with blood or contaminated needles.The disease can be passed on through blood transfusion.
Hepatitis D,occurs only in people infected with hepatitis B and tends to magnify the severity of that disease.It can be transmitted from mother to child and through s*xual contact.Rarest among the five hepatitis viruses.Hepatitis D is also the most dangerous because it involves two forms of the disease working at once.

PREVENTION
The keys to avoiding hepatitis are vaccinations,good hygiene,and informed common sense.Adequate sanitation and clean personal habitswill help reducecthe spread of hepatitis A and hepatitis E.In areas where sanitation is questionable,boil water.Cook all food well and peel all fruit.
To prevent the spread of hepatitis B,avoid exposure to infectious blood,or body fluids.Do not have intimate contact or share razors,scissors,toothbrushes,or needles with anyone who has the disease.If you suspect that you have been exposed,you should receive immune serum globulin and vaccinations for hepatitis A and hepatitis B as soon as possible.

2.TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE.There is no ideal weight for everyone,but there is specific goal you should set when it comes to your blood pressure.Keep it lower than 130/80 mm Hg and you could prevent or delay diabetes complications.You might even reduce the severity of complications that do occur.

KNOW YOUR CHOLESTEROL LEVELS.You've learned how important a healthy heart is to fighting diabetes.That's why taking steps to control your cholesterol is one of the best ways to maintain a strong ticker and flexible blood vesels.Get your bad low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol below 100 mg/dL.Below 70 is even better.Triglycerides should be less than 150 mg/dL,and you want your good high-density lipoprotein (HDL) level to be at least around 50 mg/dL.

KEEP BLOOD SUGAR STABLE.You can actually monitor how much glucose is in your blood with a hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c)test administered every three to six months.Controlling blood sugar is of course what diabetes is all about - no spikes,no lows.You want to maintain your HbA1c levels an or below 7 percent.

The American Diabetes Association takes a simpler approach to nutrition.They suggest eating a variety of foods including fruits,vegetables,whole grain,non-fat dairy products,beans,lean meats,and fish.Always choose foods rich in vitamins,minerals,and fiber instead of nutrient-poor,processed foods.

Stress can be defined as a state of worry or mental tension caused by a difficult situation.Stress is a natural response that prompts us to address challenges and threats in our lives.The way we respond to stress,however,makes a big difference to our overall well-being.

STRESS KILLS
Acute stress can kill,mostly by causing spasms in coronary arteries which can precipitate a heart attack.Acute stress can also kill by dramatically increasing blood pressure.This may cause a rupture or weakened blood vessels in the brain (a hemorrhagic stroke) or an aneurysm in other parts of the body.
Chronic stress increases bad (LDL) cholesterol,depresses good (HDL) cholesterol,makes blood more likely to clot,causes arteries to constrict,increases blood pressure and makes more susciptible in developing atherosclerotic lesions.Chronic stress has been known to depress the immune system,
opening the door to many diseases including cancer. Anything that promotes a sense of isolation leads to chronic stress.
Nunerous studies show that married people live longer than single ones and that people active in church,club or synagogue have fewer illnesses and lower blood pressure than non-participants.A roommate or even a pet can dramatically influence overall death rates,particularly those from cardiovascular disease.

MAKE LIFESTYLE CHANGES TO DECREASE STRESS
1.Take a meditation help course which teaches you to disconnect from stress.
2.Smiling often even when you're tense and and angry will chase away the bad emotions.
3.Minimize your breathing.When you're stress you tend to breath rapidly and shalowlly.Concentrate on slow,deep breathing and you can break up a bad mood.
4.Relax.Just as stress can tense up muscles,consiously relaxing muscles can reduce emotional stress.
5.Get a massage.Have someone else relax your muscles.
6.Exercise moderately.
7.Get a good night sleep.
8.If you're single,build your own support relationship by joining a church,synagogue,club,civic group.
8.Get a pet if you're alone.
9.Maintain a sense of humor.Read a book of jokes,or cartoons.When you laugh,you're in control,and that can keep you out of the hospital.

HOW TO INCREASE YOUR NITRIC OXIDE LEVELS
Nitric Oxide (NO) causes blood levels to dilate,prevents blood clots,regulates blood pressure and may inhibit the accumulation of arterial plaque,the underlying cause of most heart attacks.It's possible that most cases of heart disease could be eliminated by elevating NO.
It isn't known how much NO is normally present in the body,or what levels are optimal.NO is difficult to measure because it's a gas that breaks down almost instantly with air exposure.It's thought that NO levels remain at normal levels until early childhood,and then gradually decline.

1.Take L-arginine.It's an amino acid found in nuts,meats,grains,fish,etc.It passes through the intestine into the blood.From the blood it enters endothelial cells,where it's converted to NO.A Mayo Clinic study found that patients taking L-arginine had significant improvements in endothelial function and blood flow,compared to those taking placebos.
Recommended: 5,00 to 6,000 milligrams (mg) of arginine daily.

2.Combine L-arginine with L-citrulline.Supplemental arginine doesn't enter cells readily unless it's combined with L-citrulline,another amino acid.Melons are the richest food sources of L-citrulline,but don't provide high enough levels to significantly increase NO.
Recommended dose: 200 to 1,000 mg.taken once daily.

3.Get more antioxidants.We now believe that vitamin E and other antioxidant nutrients may protect NO by reducing its breakdown by free radicals.This might be the main reason that antioxidant promotes cardiovascular health.

Free radicals are chemicals that are extremely active and can do physical damage to our body's cells.They are like tiny comets,their tails blazing as they shoot around in the body.Though some come from the smog and pollutants in the air around us,many come from the food we eat,and even from our own body's chemical reactions.

OXIDATION AND AGING

The first type of activity that chemical reactions in the cells do,as you will remember,is getting and storing energy.This is done by a process of burning oxygen which the cell gets from the fuel food.But you know that if you set fire to a piece of paper that is also called oxidation.What's the difference? There really is no difference.It's just as the rate of burning is controlled in the body,while the paper burns itself out.If we didn't have enzymes to control the rate of burning,we too,would burn ourselves out,and die.

The enzymes system that control this rate of burning are called ANTI-OXIDANTS.This means that they slow down the burning process.If we didn't have them,our fuel foods would burn out too fast,and we too,literally would just burn up and die.With the added threat of oxidants from our environment,we need even more anti-oxidants to keep the rate of burning down.
The more we keep the rate where it should be,the longer and healthier we live.

Picture your body as a machine,a biochemical machine,with each cell in your body as a biochemical factory.Every second,thousands of biochemical reactions are taking place in every cell,and there are billions and billions of cells all over your body.

This biochemical machine,your body,will carry you through life.Like all machines,it needs fuel (food) and lubrication (vitamins) to make it run efficiently and smoothly.Like any machine,it needs to be cared for and run through its paces (exercised) to keep it in peak condition to meet the daily challenges of life.And like any machine,it runs better when unnecessary friction (stress) is reduced as much as possible.

It's your only machine.If you care for ÃŽt with these tools,it will carry you through life ver well,and the journey will be a long,joyful and pleasant one.
