Shelagh is a multidisciplinary therapist. She specialises in working with individuals with neurodivergence and women's issues across the lifespan.

Her mission is to uplift, empower and support individuals so that they can identify and bring their unique talents to the world. Living joyful and meaningful lives.

After a 24 year international teaching career spanning Africa, Asia, Europe and North America, she retrained in psychology, and has been working as a counsellor for the past five years. She is currently finalising a menopause awareness course for women called, โ€˜Back to the Classroomโ€™. This is aimed at women from their early 30โ€™s which is when perimenopause can commence.

Practical suggestions for implementing
โฎ• Begin by offering short yoga/mindfulness breaks during your sessions - 5โ€“10 minutes at the start or end, to ground the group.
โฎ• Use peer-led sessions: train a few young people (Ambassadors) to lead or co-lead short stretches or breathwork. This builds agency.
โฎ• Embed yoga/mindfulness into transitions (e.g. after school, before group work, after high-tension moments) to calm energy and refocus attention.

Even when you put the class in your diary, something always gets in the way and next time never comes. So, you try to practice at home, but the interruptions are so compelling.

You just never quite get that stretch, your self-care, your down time. Itโ€™s frustrating! I know, Iโ€™ve been there too! Iโ€™ve felt the pressure of the family juggle or the wish to do just a little bit more for my work, my clients and family too. I have learned I am just a much better parent, friend, colleague, teacher and counsellor if I get in my meditation, exercise and yoga every week.๐Ÿชท๐Ÿ‚

It is so challenging to put ourselves first, even though we know how much yoga helps our mind, body, spirit and soul! Helping us to feel focused, relaxed, present in our relationships and work, and feeling better physically-more mobile, flexible and strong!
