✨ What a difference one massage can make. ✨
These photos were taken before and immediately after her massage session—and I love this example because the change isn’t about suddenly creating more muscle. It’s about how the existing tissue is resting and moving.
In the before (top) photo, you can see a more pronounced depression and sharper transition through the area behind the scapula and below the withers. After her massage (bottom photo), that same area appears softer, fuller and more uniform, with a smoother transition into the topline.
During a session, I work through areas of muscular guarding, restricted fascia and abnormal tissue tension. When those tissues begin to relax, we can sometimes actually see the difference in the horse’s body.
And that’s the goal of bodywork: not just making a horse “feel good,” but helping restore more normal tissue mobility so the body can move more freely and efficiently.
