Jack’s leadership helped carry forward the vision of LGDA’s founder, his daughter Jana Sheets, and laid the foundation for awareness, research collaboration, and support for families affected by Complex Lymphatic Anomalies.

Lo sapevi? Le mutazioni genetiche in geni come PIK3CA (per la GLA), KRAS (per la GSD) e NRAS, HRAS, CBL (per la KLA) giocano un ruolo nello sviluppo delle CLA, il che aiuta i ricercatori a comprendere e trattare meglio queste rare patologie.

L'accesso a delle cure adeguate non dovrebbe dipendere dal luogo in cui si vive, ma per i pazienti affetti da malattie rare spesso è così.

Lo sapevi? I quattro tipi principali di CLA sono la Sindrome di Gorham Stout (GSD), l'Anomalia Linfatica Generalizzata (GLA), la Linfangiomatosi Kaposiforme (KLA) e l'Anomalia della Conduzione Linfatica Centrale (CCLA). Sebbene queste malattie abbiano caratteristiche comuni, ognuna di esse presenta sfide proprie per i pazienti.

Vivere con una malattia rara significa spesso affrontare costi medici elevati e viaggi frequenti per raggiungere gli specialisti.

Lo sapevi? Linfangiomatosi kaposiforme (KLA): La KLA è un sottotipo aggressivo di GLA che comporta sia la crescita incontrollata delle cellule sia la malformazione dei vasi linfatici. Spesso causa emorragie significative e ha un forte impatto sul torace.
