Today we announce the roll-out of The Inclusive Roots Project. A program where we build assessable tailored edible gardens for people living with disabilities.

We can't do this alone, with the help of many businesses, such as Seeds Of Plenty, we are giving our participants the opportunity to grow their own food. If you are keen to help, feel free to reach out.

The risk of overburdening unpaid carers, as well as Local Councils, and State Government, is very real.

Carers Australia welcomes important Federal Budget investments in workplace inclusion, aged care and respite support, but serious concerns remain about the impact of NDIS reforms on carers and people with disability.

Carers Australia CEO Joanna Cave says while some of the funding announcements will benefit carers, reducing NDIS supports risks shifting even more pressure onto carers who are already under strain.

Key figures from the Budget:
• $3.2 million over four years to continue the Carer Inclusive Workplace Initiative (CIWI)
• $3.7 billion investment in additional aged care beds, packages and improved care
• $6.7 million for innovative respite care grants for carers of people with dementia
• $37.8 billion in Budget savings over four years linked to NDIS reforms

“We know that whenever there are system gaps, family, friend and kin carers are the fallback option, and many carers are already at breaking point.” — Joanna Cave

Carers Australia will continue advocating to ensure carers and the people they care for are not disadvantaged by these changes.
