There have been dozens of studies looking at ketogenic nutrition and sports performance. Almost none of them show direct increase in performance within the time frames of the research performed. All of them show some improvement in metabolic performance and efficiency that indicates great potential for improvements in training capacity and physiological resilience.
If the scientific community is really going to understand ketogenic sports nutrition, there has to be a shift in acknowledging the secondary long-term impacts of metabolic flexibility and improved inflammation management.
Research interventions need to be longer and interpretation of data needs to be consistent with the physiological context of ketogenic adaptation.
