Happy Tuesday besties ♿️💕 I think one of the biggest misconceptions about wheelchair life is that people only see us sitting.
They don’t see the constant physical work happening behind the scenes.
Most wheelchair users are using their upper body in ways it technically wasn’t designed to be used ALL day long. Pushing, balancing, lifting, stabilizing, transferring, carrying things, repositioning…over and over again.
And over time, that wear and tear adds up.
That’s why adaptive fitness matters so much to me.
Not because I’m trying to look a certain way…but because strength directly impacts my independence, pain levels, endurance, confidence, and overall quality of life.
The stronger and more stable my body is, the easier everyday life becomes ♿️💪🏼
This is also why proper programming for wheelchair users matters SO much.
It’s not just “upper body workouts.” It’s injury prevention. It’s longevity. It’s freedom. It’s preserving independence for as long as possible.
And honestly…I hope this post helps able-bodied people better understand just how physically demanding wheelchair life can actually be 👀
If this taught you something new, share it with someone who should see it 🫶🏼
And wheelchair users… what part of daily life do YOU think takes the most strength? ⬇️♿️
